LANCASTER – A naked man whom witnesses said was skipping and hopping in the street in east Lancaster was tasered and taken into custody late Monday morning.

The following is the press release from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station:

Lancaster Station received a call of a naked man walking in the street near 20th Street East and Lancaster Boulevard.

Deputies confirmed the caller’s initial observation as they saw an unknown naked male walking westbound [on] Lancaster Blvd. Deputies made several attempts to communicate with the man through PA announcements.

First responders surrounded the naked man to shield him from public view. (LUIS MEZA)

He didn’t respond to any of the deputy’s verbal announcements and appeared to exhibit symptoms consistent with being under the influence of a controlled substance. After several unsuccessful attempts to detain the suspect, deputies physically detained the naked suspect near 16th St East and the Blvd.

The suspect became assaultive with the deputies and a Taser was deployed to safely gain control of the suspect.

The unknown suspect was transported to AV Hospital for further examination of his condition and treatment of minor injuries. He was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and transported to Lancaster Station Jail for booking.

I saw this dude in front of the school by the eastside park. He should not be aloud back on the streets with a simple slap on the wrist. Me along with other mothers with their kids saw him in front of the school and reported him. He was by an elementary school. This is not funny its sick

I am a non drinking, non smoking , local home owner, white 40ish Christian woman who has grown up here. I was confronted by a crazy drug induced man 6 years ago with a kitchen knife a
that rivaled a Samurai sword and it scared the tar out of me. But cmon people, nothing happened. Lighten up. It was FUNNY! Hopefully he will get the help he obviously needs. Don’t be so negative. At least they got him off the streets before someone got hurt.

Being on PCP to the point you are running around naked on the street is NOT FUNNY. Is a testament to the complete immersion in this chemical.

PCP was first synthesized in 1926 and later tested after World War II as a surgical anesthetic. Because of its adverse side effects, such as hallucinations, mania, delirium, and disorientation, it was shelved until the 1950s. In 1953, it was patented by Parke-Davis and named Sernyl (referring to serenity), but was only used in humans for a few years because of side-effects. In 1967, it was given the trade name Sernylan and marketed as a veterinary anesthetic, but was again discontinued[when?]. Its side effects and long half-life in the human body made it unsuitable for medical applications.

Behavioral effects can vary by dosage. Low doses produce a numbness in the extremities and intoxication, characterized by staggering, unsteady gait, slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and loss of balance. Moderate doses (5–10 mg intranasal, or 0.01–0.02 mg/kg intramuscular or intravenous) will produce analgesia and anesthesia. High doses may lead to convulsions.Users frequently do not know how much of the drug they are taking due to the tendency of the drug to be made illegally in uncontrolled conditions. Psychological effects include severe changes in body image, loss of ego boundaries, paranoia and depersonalization. Hallucinations, euphoria, and suicidal impulses are also reported, as well as occasional aggressive behavior.Like many other drugs, phencyclidine has been known to alter mood states in an unpredictable fashion, causing some individuals to become detached, and others to become animated. PCP may induce feelings of strength, power, and invulnerability as well as a numbing effect on the mind.

Recreational doses of the drug also occasionally appear to induce a psychotic state that resembles a schizophrenic episode, sometimes lasting for months at a time

Now how is that funny? Is it dangerous and around a school? This guy is a danger to his community.

      Dave

There is nothing funny about this at all. This man need help and the parents of the children evolved need to talk to them about this. Would be a good time for a discussion about drugs. PRAY THAT THE MAN GETS THE HELP THAT HE NEEDS.

I just don’t understand what could possibly motivate a person to engage in the behavior. Apparently the requirement is a lack of common sense in the first place, because there is nothing ‘smart’ about taking drugs.

IT IS SO SAD…..that people in the community see this as been funny!!! what if this drugged out maniac assulted a child (in the wrong place at the wrong time)!!! what if it was your daughter, sister, son, brother??? would this still be funny???

    • uright says

      January 28, 2014 at 4:24 pm

you are right. When a person does enough drugs to the point where they lose control of themselves, anything can happen. We are lucky all he did was dance around on the street, what if he grabbed a brick and ran to a preschool and started attacking children? It would not be funny then. This incident should make you all think about the war on drugs, there are many people in prison right now who would not be there if they had not made the bad decision to get high. And there are many dead people who would be alive today if their killer was not high on drugs.

You are so right. Apparently some drugs give people super human strength and they get so heated up that they have to take their clothes off.

I’ve also heard a few times that people who commit suicide, undress.

What’s scary, is these days you never know who you know or who is standing beside you.

I’d like to know what that’s going to cost when it’s all done. My guess is three grand on the low end and ten on the high end. The damn taser probably cost five hundred bucks to refill. Ambulatory service…. Court costs… New clothing for the guy… Medical services…. Not to mention the lives that were put at risk …. Or maybe he’s going to pay that back to us I don’t know.

PCP elevates the body temperature and in the altered mental state a user takes off their own clothes in an effort to cool down.
