Elderly woman found dead, son arrested for murder

by The AV Times Staff • December 21, 2013

LANCASTER – Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the suspicious death of a 73-year-old Lancaster woman.

The woman, identified by coroner’s officials as Rosie Manuel, was found dead in her kitchen around 6 p.m. Thursday in the 44000 block of Beech Avenue in Lancaster.

The victim’s older son made the discovery and contacted sheriff’s deputies, officials said. Deputies along with paramedics responded to the location, and paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene, according to a press statement by the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.

“Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the victim’s youngest son, 47-year-old Shelton Bradley, a resident of Lancaster. Suspect Bradley was booked at Lancaster Sheriff’s Station for murder, and is being held in lieu of one million dollars bail,” the statement reads.

The exact cause of death will be determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner. Saturday afternoon, coroner’s officials said the body was being examined but the autopsy was not yet completed.

The suspect’s booking photo is not being released.
