by The AV Times Staff • November 6, 2013

LANCASTER – A 35-year-old man on parole for robbery was arrested this past weekend after a lengthy investigation, which began in response to 10 similar robberies in both Lancaster and Palmdale, authorities said.

Rafiki Bogar was charged Tuesday with two counts of robbery, criminal threats, and commercial burglary, according to a press release from the Lancaster Sheriff Station. Read it below:

On Saturday 11/02/13, the Lancaster Robbery Suppression Team arrested suspect Rafiki Bogar near the 1300 Block of Boyden Avenue. Search warrants were also served at two locations in Lancaster stemming from their arrest of suspect Bogar and additional evidence was recovered.

The Team had been conducting a lengthy investigation, which began in response to a spree of approximately 10 similar robberies in both Lancaster and Palmdale. Numerous hours of surveillance and tenacious investigative techniques led Lancaster detectives to the arrest of suspect Bogar who was on parole for robbery.

Suspect Bogar was arraigned in AV Superior Court on Tuesday 11/05/13 and charged with two counts of robbery, criminal threats, and commercial burglary.

This case is indicative of the Robbery Suppression Team’s hard work ethic and commitment to protecting the community from criminals and prosecuting them. Their tradition of solving the majority of their robbery cases in the city of Lancaster continues.

The Robbery Suppression Team’s investigation is still ongoing and any additional information regarding this case or any other robberies would be appreciated. Information can be given to the Robbery Suppression Team at 661-948-8466.

    I’m sure that if LEAPS was involved, it would have made the headline.

    Nice try, John Howard, but not quite. Do you think, for even one hot minute, that Parris or his cronies would have missed an opportunity to tout their multi-million dollar buddy deal, Eye in the Sky, if it had been successfully used in even the slightest way on this? Really?

    No way. They’d be all over that like white on rice, and you know it.

    This case was handled by real Deputies on the ground, doing their jobs to the best of their abilities. If Parris and his cronies would stop wasting taxpayer money on backroom buddy deals like their Eye in the Sky, that money could be put to more efficient use making our streets safer with more Deputies.

    “Numerous hours of surveillance.. ”
    Let me translate that for those of you paying attention at home;
    LEAPS
    No need to send out an investigator to spend hours hanging out in front of a guys crib to possibly catch a glimpse of him all the while having a caseload three times that of any other LASD region. No just let LEAPS track his every move while the investigator focuses on other more important matters like following up leads and interviewing suspects.
    For this, LEAPS may just be worth every dollar spent..
