Palmdale woman dies after crashing into power pole

LANCASTER – A 34-year-old Palmdale woman died Sunday night after her car drifted across opposing lanes and crashed into a utility pole, authorities said.

Ruvi Dimas Garcia succumbed to her injuries shortly after the crash and was pronounced dead at a local hospital, according to Chief Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

The wreck happened around 9:58 p.m. Sunday on Avenue I near Beech Avenue in Lancaster, according to Sgt. Dave Jennings of the Lancaster Sheriff Station.

Garcia was driving a 1999 Dodge Stratus westbound on Avenue I when she drifted across the eastbound lanes and collided with a power pole on the south curb line, Jennings stated.

Garcia and her male passenger were transported to Antelope Valley Hospital where Garcia died of her injuries. The passenger, whose name was not released, suffered significant, non-life threatening injuries, Jennings stated.

SoCal Edison responded to the collision scene and determined there was no apparent damage that would pose a safety threat, Jennings stated.

Sheriff’s detectives continue to investigate this fatal collision. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station Traffic Enforcement Team at 661-948-8466.

Ruvi is my cousin and no matter how that horrible accident happened, is not going to change things…God only knows why and I hope my nephews and nieces find peace and that her parents find strength to accept our lost.   2. Also real quick check out a couple of accidents that happened the end of Feb last year one ave K. One end same scenerio two people in car went across multiple lanes up over curb into fence. And also at other end car went off road over curb slammed into hydrant and power pole severely injured. They wee working all along that road at that time. Something about estate sale and robbery? Oh see if any witnesses to other cars coming up fast behind or around, hanging out on corners or out of cars ) . And per this and earlier post…. Get medical records as to what they say they did at hospital ( very important ) and police reports….. This is usually a group effort / involvement

  3. Yes. There are many things here that do not make sense, especially after reading the comments posted by people who knew them. In fact many events and ” accidents” that have taken place make little or no sense especially when there are rarely ever any real or thorough investigations conducted to find out why. That, I believe is the first clue that there IS SOMETHING WRONG and that the truth about what is going on is being deliberately suppressed, denied or omitted altogether. I say this not as someone who is just ” a crazy loon” or ” paranoid” or even a ” conspiracy theorist” ( well ok maybe that one ) , but as a person who has personally witnessed and experienced a number of these mysterious so called ” accidents”. Keep in mind that what is reported in the news is usually just bits and pieces of information that may or may not be either informative or accurate regarding specific people or a particular event and is left to those who are concerned or involved ( in many ways and for many reason ) to form a scenario or ultimately a conclusion. Sometimes that can be a very difficult, exhausting process for some who are injured or are grieving. To those loving people, I hope this information helps….

    First of all, PLEASE make sure you have SOMEONE YOU TRUST look at the car thoroughly REGARDLESS IF IT HAS BEEN TAKEN TO A TOW YARD. The fact that no brakes were applied ( or rather that no brake marks were seen ) is HIGHLY suspicious. Check the brake lines, the steering unit and the ACCELERATOR. I was in an accident with my child and not only was I unable to steer the vehicle ( it pulled to the left across two lanes and into an embankment) and my accelerator kicked into a very fast rate of speed very quickly ( which I heard) and there was absolutely NOTHING I could do to stop it. At the time it happened I was probably going about 30-40 mph and I’d say it doubled that in a matter of seconds. It was as if someone else was driving as it pulled hard to the left hit the embankment and we rolled numerous e times. My child was thrown out of the car and it was COMPLETELY totaled. Thank God she lived. After they towed my car, I told people what had happened but NOONE would believe me. They would also not let anyone inspect the car! So please do that for me would you? Why did they say he had minor injuries when in the hospital in critical condition, surgeries, etc?
    In addition, why does the picture of the vehicle look like it is burned in the front? Is that an electrical burn? Looks like it to me. Why did they mention electric co came and said ” didn’t pose a threat” and there were no injuries? Vehicle slammed right into power pole like it was pulled there by force ( magnetic ). Please look at articles concerning the accident end of sept on ave G. Look at pictures. Read articles in newspaper about spaceport ( flight pilot testing ) BYD electrical ( very important tool as target ) in other words any kind of device that might have been put on or anyone worked on vehicle. They have to test this equipment out somehow!!!! I could show you specific articles to look at but just get that car checked out SOON. PLEASE.   6. Ruvi u will be miss by so many its crazy to even think your gone. I just found out mija and I’m still going through it! You are my family mija no one can or will ever take that away from us, or the good times and adventures we had together! You taught me so much, open up your home to me, and your heart. I just wish it wasn’t you, like you have so much more to do in life. My condolences to the Garcia family and other friends. You will be miss with out a doubt Miss Tiny. And I will always miss you and have you, the kids andgrankids in my prayers and in my heart!

  7. I cant believe it, I Just saw her alive and well few days ago … that just goes to show to keep the ones we love close at all times because we never know what tomorrow brings.   8. First off condolences to all the families of the deceased and victim. This is exceptionally tragic to happen to the mother of so many children. That having been said I intend no offense in examining what may have happened here.

    This is a very confusing accident. In the space of 400 ft, this car crossed a 2-way left turn lane, 3 traffic lanes, jumped a curb, and darn near missed a pole towards the field side. In the course of all this, the brakes were not hit, evident by no skid mark behind the rear tire.

    I also noticed the passengers name was not released in the article. I wonder if this might be because he is underage?

    If we are to assume alcohol is not a factor, then a tremendous amount of driver inattention is the remaining suspect. Asleep at the wheel is possible though the curb impact should have allowed time for brief braking. A medical emergency is possible but the passenger should have had time to notice and assist. Maybe there will be information from the passenger though often in powerful collisions, the victims have little or no recollection of the accident.

    That’s about all I can think of, unless more information becomes available

  9. Such a tragedy. Michael is my cousin, he is out of surgery & expected to live, but his injuries are very serious & he has a long road of recovery ahead of him. We love you sooooooooooo much Mike!!!!! Thank you everyone for your kind words & prayers!
    To Ruvi’s family, I am so, so truly sorry for your loss. It is always hard to lose a family member before their time. Especially a parent. My family will keep you all in our thoughts & prayers during this difficult time.

        It appears to me that Alicia Benitez is saying ‘she and her husband are very sad about Ruby passing. (it’s how Alicia pronounces Ruvi) . She was a good friend..will miss her very much. We knew Michael as well and are praying for his recovery and know he will miss her love. My condolence to her loved ones and for a speed recovery for Michael. God bless

  16. I actually drove by this around 10:15pm yesterday. Sad. I’m sure they were drunk driving. No other cars were involved from what I could see and they had to travel at least 3 lanes in the opposite direction to hit the pole.
