PALMDALE – Firearms, a ballistic vest, and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition were seized last week when gang detectives raided a Palmdale home in search of a shooting suspect, authorities said.
The search warrant was executed around 9 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 26 at a home located on the 1200 block of East Avenue R in Palmdale, according to Lancaster Community Relations deputy Miguel T. Ruiz.
Lancaster detectives with the Operation Safe Streets Bureau (gang unit) recovered four firearms, including a .45 caliber handgun, over 1000 rounds of ammunition, and a ballistic vest with a “13” patch, representing the “Sureno” gang affiliation, Ruiz stated.
Detectives also located and arrested 26-year-old David Marquez on suspicion of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or vehicle.
Marquez is accused of shooting multiple rounds at a car that was parked at a residence in the 2000 block of West Avenue K-6 in Lancaster, Ruiz stated. The shooting-related crime occurred around 3 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 23.
Marquez remains jailed on $250,000 bail. Anyone with additional information in this case is asked to contact Detective Gillis at Lancaster Station OSS at 661-948-8466.

Its so crazy how Cops or detectives can make things up just so they can make more money. My husband was a security Guard and that is why he has legally owned guns. That 13 that you see is a patch from a jacket that i bought him last year for Christmas and i had it in my drawer and all of a sudden its on the vest. He is not a gangster, hes not even Salvadorean. Hes a responsible and loving son, father and husband. All i can do is pray that God serves justice in this nasty world where you cant even trust people nor the law that protects people.

Let’s just think about what we read, they don’t have any proof of anything yet, he is only a suspect, he had guns but how many other people have guns in there homes? Ammunition wise, what if he liked going to the shooting range or maybe he worked in a field where he was aloud to carry a gun and practiced so he had rounds for his job and to practice. The number 13 on his vest maybe he just likes the lucky #13? How many other people like that number? You don’t know who this person is and we sometimes just believe and accept everything the media says but the facts and the truth will come to light. If he did something yes I believe he should be held responsible and do his time but to charge him with more then what he did(that is if he did anything) is wrong. He does have a family who will love and support him but we also know if he did something, he will do time, which we understand and accept, it’s called consequences. But we still love him and we are praying for him. We leave everything in Gods Hands.

More than 1000 rounds, there is no reason for any civilian to have that much. The sooner society wakes up and agrees to ban, confiscate and destroy all firearms for civilians the safer we will all be!
Shane Falco says
The reason to have 2000 rounds is because somewhere some cockroach has 1000.

The day you can confirm 100% that no bad guys have guns! the government is guaranteed never to go corrupt, I would give up some guns…. But I would like to keep at least one so if a bad guy did show up with a knife or something I could be one up on him…. Even though the element of surprise still gives the bad guys a huge advantage….

I think automobiles should be banned, because more people are killed in car accidents every year in the US than by firearms. Motorcycles should be banned also, since thousands die every year because they don’t know how to ride. We need to ban knifes also, because who really needs a knife????
Mr. Mister says
Automobiles and motorcycle deaths are more than 95% of the time, accidents. Gun violence is 100% of the time, on purpose, that’s the difference. No we don’t need to ban firearms, that’s too extreme, but federal background checks and certain military grade weapons bans could be beneficial. To say more armed citizens will create less violence, is to say gasoline can effectively put out a fire.
ryan walker says
I’m sure all the violent criminals are going to follow that law right? How much gun violence is done by legally owned guns? ban guns so now no law abiding citizen has a gun to protect himself, but all the criminals that had guns before still have guns!!
Lets do the math.
1 criminal with gun + 1 citizen with gun = X amount of violence.
now..
1 criminal with a gun + 1 citizen with NO guns = 10x more amount of violence.
How do you not get that?
Mr. Mister says
Let’s do some reading comprehension…”No we don’t need to ban firearms, that’s too extreme, but federal background checks and certain military grade weapons bans could be beneficial.”
Heck, let’s do some more math…
1 criminal + 1 armed citizen= 2X the amount of violence.
Just because a law abiding citizen gets confronted by a criminal and also has a gun, does not mean that violence will not occur in that situation. C’mon!
If you can comprehend what I posted, background checks on ‘law-abiding’ citizens shouldn’t reduce one’s ability to obtain a gun unless you are not a ‘law-abiding’ citizen.
Let’s recall the Navy Yard shooting, Sandy Hook, and Aurora. All weapons obtained legally. All weapons used were assault style. All 3 shooters had mental health issues. Why not include mental health history in a background check? You honestly think that would lead to more violence? Common sense! No bans on all firearms! NO BANS ON ALL FIREAMRS!! Just more extensive (mental health) background checks on a national scale, and bans on military style/grade weapons. Not rocket science, not a repeal of the 2nd ammendement, not turning in your current weapons, just common sense to try to prevent incidents.
And I whole-heartedly agree about criminals getting weapons illegally. It won’t stop. Same goes for drugs. But if you can reduce the probability of something happening, why not?
Pro Second Amendment says
‘Accidents’ are rare. Collisions caused by persons not paying attention are common.
About once every two weeks I get to watch first hand as someone passes others in a double yellow zone.
Daily I get to watch people pay more attention to a device in their car rather than the road outside their car.
Every few days I see someone mis-judge the distance or speed of another driver.
And of course in the AV, where the average surface street speed is 60 MPH I see drivers in excess of 70 MPH passing those doing 60 MPH.
These are bad decisions, not accidents.
Mr. Mister says
Although I 100% agree with your post, and witness myself as well, these collisions are unintended. Having said that, the point I was making was that automotive deaths are not a direct result of intended violence as opposed to gun violence.

Your an idiot T.J. I have a few thousands rounds of ammo for each gun I own. I have never been arrested and have a great job with family. Civilins will not be any safer by taking their guns because the bad guys will still have them.
They should allow citizens to carry and then bad guys will think twice about doing the crap they do. Knowing that their victim could be armed and fight back is alot more powerful than calling the cops or being dead.
We go to the range all the time and go thru large amounts of ammo. Its our right and your comment makes you sound like a moron.

If I go out for a weekend of target shooting, I can easily shoot 300 round. Often times there are serious bulk discounts when buying case quantities.
As soon as the government looks up all Democrats we will be safer. Most all of the people incarcerated for violent crimes are Democrats. Remove the Democrats and watch crime drop.
george forman says
I seriously doubt that the people who commit violent crimes ever VOTE or even understand the difference between the two political parties enough to care in the first place… What [removed] told you that most criminals are democrats? Cause that is one of the stupidest things ive ever heard.
Pro Second Amendment says
Guns often hold 6-10 rounds of ammunition. During target practice/plinking the shooter fires about a round a second for easy targets, maybe a round every 30 seconds for slow careful aiming of a more difficult target.
Lets take the long estimate with 10 rounds. That is 5 minutes. 100 rounds would be 50 minutes. Many shooters will spend 3 hours target shooting, 300 rounds. That is for one gun. Many gun owners own 2 or more guns with different calibers. So lets assume 3 guns and 300 rounds each just for practice/fun shooting. That is almost 1000 rounds.
I see 4 guns in that picture (though 1 is missing important parts) so 1000 rounds seems reasonable.
What I would be worried about is that a known gang member has access to the weapon. Guess what a gang member does not care about. If you guessed laws and bans then you answered correctly.

Nice statement….if you are weak. Maybe “you” should let the Govt. install a camera in your house. That way they can make sure your safe….or maybe you could move to Europe. You don’t belong in America.

I am a female gun owner with far more than 1,000 rounds for each of my weapons at all times. All obtained legally I might add. The criminals will always be able to illegally obtain weapons and ammunition. Because of this I will always make sure that I have more than they do. When you violate the constitution and try to infringe upon my right to protect myself, anymore than California has already done, we are going to have issues.
