Free Emergency Preparedness presentation Tuesday

by The AV Times Staff • September 5, 2013

disaster preparedness survey lancasterPALMDALE – September is National Preparedness Month. Are you ready for an emergency?

The City of Palmdale’s Public Safety and Community Relations Department will host an Emergency Preparedness presentation this Tuesday, Sept. 10.

The presentation starts at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, located at 38300 Sierra Highway, Suite B. The event is free and open to the public.

“Imagine that you have no electricity, no gas and no water,” said Palmdale’s Crime prevention officer Kery German. “Imagine that all the businesses are closed or have nothing left on their shelves.  In a major disaster it may be several days before help arrives.  Are you and your family prepared for such an incident?”

The presentation will offer how-to information, and educational materials on how to be properly prepared in the event of an emergency.

Guest speakers from the LA County Fire Department, LA County Sheriff’s Department, American Red Cross and others will be present.

“Being properly prepared for an emergency is important and a must for all residents,” said German. “Remember, it’s never too early to prepare but it can be too late.”

Some local resources that can assist in preparedness efforts include: www.avpreppers.webs.com, www.antelopevalleycert.com and www.redcrossla.org/antelopevalley.

For more information contact Kery German at 661/267-5170.

Prepare for what you see fit but don’t sit around expecting someone else, ie. the govt at taxpayer expense, to take care of you.

Will there be information on where to buy tin foil hats? I know several people who could use them.
