PALMDALE – Nearly 200 children and parents packed the Palmdale City Library this past weekend as the music of Craig Newton helped end a highly successful Summer Reading Program.

Pizza, raffle prizes and chips donated by Frito-Lay were also on hand to help add to the festivities, which capped off a program that had over 900 participating children who cumulatively read thousands of books.

“What a fabulous end of the program party we had!” said Children’s Programming Coordinator Shay Hawken.  “The children and parents were treated to a great musical show, delicious food and a raffle where we gave away some cool prizes!”

This program was made possible by a grant from Dollar General and by the Friends of the Palmdale Library.

The Palmdale City Library is open seven days a week. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm; Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm; and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm.

For more information, call the Palmdale City Library at 661-267-5600 or TDD 267-5167, or visit www.cityofpalmdale.org/library.
