PALMDALE – The City of Palmdale’s Public Safety and Community Relations department will host a National Night Out (NNO) public safety event at DryTown Water Park, in conjunction with the upcoming “Sundown at DryTown,” scheduled for this Friday, Aug. 9.
Palmdale public safety staff will be on hand, while LA County Sheriff and Fire Departments will have vehicles on display as well as representatives to share information and speak with residents.
In addition, the sheriff’s canine unit will participate in the event, featuring “Deputy Gunner,” a very friendly black lab.

“We are inviting the community to stop by and take advantage of the last ‘Sundown at DryTown’ event of the summer and also meet our crime prevention staff and ask questions about what we have to offer,” said Palmdale’s Community Safety Supervisor Kelly Long. “Our Community Watch programs offer so much more than safety training – they are a launching pad for creating and developing a sense of community among your neighbors. Meetings and gatherings provide wonderful opportunities to learn about what is going on in your city, about programs and resources available as well as the valuable information you share with us, which in turn, helps us shape current and future programs and public safety actions to meet the needs of our residents.”
There is no admission charge to attend the NNO event. Tickets for “Sundown at DryTown” are $8 for General Admission (customers 48” and taller), $6 for Junior Admission (Guests 42” to 47” tall), and free for those under 42”. Season pass holders get free admission to “Sundown at DryTown.”
Now in its eighth year of operation, DryTown is open daily through Aug. 11 and weekends from Aug. 17 to September 22.
National Night Out is a nationwide crime awareness campaign designed to generate participation in local anti-crime efforts. It strengthens neighborhood spirit and law enforcement-community partnerships and sends a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting crime. Target will once again partner with the National Association of Town Watch to promote the event.
In celebration of National Night Out, residents in Palmdale neighborhoods are asked to participate by turning on their outside lights and spending evenings outside with neighbors throughout the month of August.
Palmdale’s National Night Out (NNO) public safety event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 9, at DryTown Water Park, located at 38350 East Avenue S in Palmdale.
