“Women Matter” health fair set for Saturday

senior expoPALMDALE – Antelope Valley residents are invited to attend a women’s health fair this coming Saturday.

“Women Matter” will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday (June 1) at the Word of Life Outreach Ministries, located at 924 East Avenue Q-5 in Palmdale.

The event is free and open to the public.

Topics and services covered include:

  • High blood pressure testing,
  • Diabetes awareness,
  • Glucose testing,
  • Healthy eating,
  • Weight loss information,
  • Fitness literature,
  • Breast cancer awareness,
  • Dental screenings,
  • Bone marrow transplant,
  • Early childhood education,
  • Insurance and financial planning,
  • College scholarship information,
  • Addiction treatment information,
  • Early childhood immunization screenings  and more.

Participating organizations include the City of Palmdale South Antelope Valley Emergency Services (SAVES), Valley Oasis, Antelope Valley Partners for Health, Champions for Change, Antelope Valley Community Clinic, Be The Match, Pueblo y Salud, Curves, Palmdale Head Start, Dorothy’s Play House Day Care, Javati Weight Loss, and others.

“There will be information for everyone, a fun filled day and food to eat,” said event coordinator Alice Ross.
