Only 3 DUI’s. What a waste of time. If the checkpoint was done right by the door of any Palmdale bar then there wouldn’t be a shortage of drunkheads.

Why are people complaining about the checkpoints? It’s ridiculous! If u don’t have a license, you shouldn’t be driving! If your drunk or on drugs, you shouldn’t be driving! It has nothing to do with “rights”. You are breaking the law! And FYI, checkpoints were going on long before Obama took office so stop trying to make everything about him! B*tch about Bush too then and many presidents before him. If you don’t like the laws of the city, county, state, or country…GET THE HELL OUT! Nobody is holding you against your will! And if you hate the cops so much, handle crap on your own! Don’t call them for help! Everyone complains yet runs to them whenever there is an issue.

I agree Jasmine. All the people complaining are the same ones these checkpoints are designed to catch. They think they are above the law and don’t have to abide by the laws of the road. They dont read the articles about the huge numbers of people killed by drunk drivers out here and think they can drive around with no license, no insurance, etc. Then when one of them is in an accident and harms somebody or causes damage to other vehicles, the rest pay for it. They just throw away their $200.00 crap car and buy(or steal) another one.

i dont have nothing agaisnt checkpoints with what i have a problem is how easy people always blame the unlicense or uninsured drivers for most of the accidents that happen in town it’s easy to blame them but let’s put the blame where it belongs it can happen to anyone not only them
.my son had an accident an eldery lady made a totally illegal turn and she had a insurance and license you get it?

Why were the cars of unlicensed drivers released? They should have been impounded and the car only released to the registered owner AFTER they show a valid license and proof of insurance. AND then be given a ticket for allowing an unlicensed driver to drive their car.

The cars were released because the law says so.

it is law for them to disclose it. and they do, but they dont have to make a big deal about it. as long as they put an ad in the paper, or announce it on their website its legal.

There night could have been worst, like an accident and killing someone, they should be thankful they were stopped in time.

Why worry if you are not driving impaired or carrying a pressure cooker in your trunk.

Because I’m busy, and now I have to bow to another government regulation! It’s BS! Meanwhile, all these badges make serious bank regulating the same thing they all do. Keys to the new car, jewelry for the ‘Ol Lady, a pool or maybe a taxpayer expenses paid trip to Disneyland! For what??

“Meanwhile, all these badges make serious bank regulating the same thing they all do ”
        Care to explain that statement?

Being married to a cop…they don’t get paid “bank” and don’t buy extravagant things. People b*tch so much about the cops yet they are the ones coming to your rescue. Next time someone hits your car, breaks into your home, or kills a family member…handle it on your own because you apparently don’t need the police to help you.

Don’t let them get to you, Jasmine. Most law abiding citizens know better and appreciate what the deputies do.

You’re damn right I don’t. The Second Amendment (provided it still exists) will be my guide. I didn’t “bitch about COPS.” I’m bitching at the idea that I have to be inconvenienced by a group of law-enforcement officials who make plenty of taxpayer dollars, only so they can be payed MORE taxpayer dollars! The fines they get don’t pay for the amount of dollars it spent on deputies. So, they give a “grant”. It’s stupid….

By the way….My son’s an L.A. County Deputy right here in beautiful, downtown Palmdale. I know the drill. How bout it, sikntired? How bout that mouth now? He doesn’t like it either. He wants to get real bona fied criminals, that deserve a boot in their @$$, off the streets.

So, yeah, all this just in to your ignorant minds. I love it….

You Momma… why not ask your son if these checkpoints are staffed completely by paid deputies, or if much of the staffing is reserve deputies and volunteers.

“The fines they get don’t pay for the amount of dollars it spent on deputies”

Well isn’t that pretty much true for much of law enforcement? They don’t decide which crimes to go after based on how “profitable” the fines are.

… poof-gone, your 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th amendment privileges, under the United States Constitution, are pretty much toast. Ponch and John can pretty much do whatever they like, set up Soviet style checkpoints to confiscate your assets anywhere they like, anytime they like, for whatever whimsical reason they like. Next target for law enforcement and politicians is, your 1st amendment privilege. A nuisance, law Enforcement and Politicians don’t particularly like freedom of speech. They would prefer having that, all to themselves. But, it can’t be directly targeted. The way our founding fathers structured the constitution, your 1st amendment privilege is hinged upon your 2nd, your 2nd amendment privilege, upon the third. And, so forth. They know, making your 2nd amendment privilege “conditional” (e.g., arbitrary background checks) constitutes precedence which automatically makes your 1st amendment privilege, “conditional.” Like dominoes falling, no more constitution, America slowly becomes the East Germany of the 21st Century — asj.

Jeeze, if you’re stupid enough to voluntarily drive through a checkpoint, you’ve pretty much given your consent to be screened, right? You can’t go crying about 4th ammendment rights when you give consent to be screened.
