Local grocery store robbed at gunpoint

by The AV Times Staff • April 19, 2013

Ralphs grocery stores

LANCASTER – Detectives from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station are searching for the thief who held up a Lancaster grocery store late Friday morning.

The armed robbery happened around 11:45 a.m. at Ralph’s grocery store in the 1900 Block of West Avenue L in Lancaster, according to Lt. Paul Pfrehm of the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.

Preliminary information gathered at the scene revealed a Hispanic male, who appeared to be in his 40s, approached the checkout register, brandished a handgun and demanded money, Pfrehm stated.

The suspect fled the store after obtaining a small amount of cash, and then ran westbound through the parking lot and out of view, Pfrehm stated.

No one was injured in the incident.

The robber was wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt, and he was armed with an unknown type of weapon, Pfrehm stated.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station Robbery Suppression Team at 661-948-8466.

To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.

The west side is not a deluxe neighborhood as many people think. It’s not Stephenson Ranch you all.

And by the way, Stevenson Ranch also has robberies. It’s something you can’t escape. It is the world we live in.
