Fundraiser set for family of Michael Valenzuela

PALMDALE – There will be a fundraiser tomorrow to help raise money for the funeral of Michael Valenzuela, the 18-year-old struck and killed by a school bus on Monday.

A car wash is being held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday at Sky Burgers, located at 1824 East Palmdale Boulevard.

One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the Valenzuela family to help cover the cost of the funeral, organizers said.

bike vs school bus fatal 1Valenzuela was riding a bicycle southbound on 55th Street East when he was hit by a school bus filled with students that was traveling westbound on Avenue R, according to the California Highway Patrol. Valenzuela was rushed to the hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Valenzuela had been on his way to soccer practice at Domenic Massari Park, where he played in the Palmdale Youth Soccer League.

The Palmdale Youth Soccer League has coordinated the fundraiser, along with Agents of Change. For additional details on this fundraiser, contact Dr. Miguel Coronado at 661-466-6810.

A bank account has also been set up through Bank of America so that can residents can donate to the Valenzuela family.

To make a donation, visit any Bank of America and ask to donate to the account of Juan and Michael Valenzuela. The account number is 325019314271.

    To everyone who came and supported the family thank you!! The turn out was amazing from what I’m told! I was at the park helping out there. The love, prayers and support that came there was just as awesome. We will be organizing another one for this coming Sunday. I will keep everyone posted on when and where.
