Joe Walker STEALTH Academy to hold Open House

joe walker middle schoolLANCASTER – Joe Walker STEALTH Academy will hold a Community Open House to showcase their innovative educational programs to local families.

Application information will be available to parents and students at this event, which will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday (March 14) at Joe Walker Middle School, located at 5632 West Avenue L-8 in Lancaster.

Parents in the Antelope Valley desiring to provide their children with opportunities to prepare for careers in science, engineering and related fields are invited to learn more.  Joe Walker’s STEALTH Academy provides curriculum with a comprehensive focus on science, technology, engineering and learning through humanities (STEALTH).

These academic programs are available to all 7th and 8th grade students in the Antelope Valley, and parents must apply for an opportunity to have their student join the program.

Applications are being accepted through Friday, April 26 at 3 p.m.

“We want the community to see what we are all about,” said Joe Walker principal Christina Fitzgerald.  “Our programs benefit the community as a whole because we are preparing the next generation to lead the Antelope Valley into the future.  We welcome the community to join us for this open house and learn more about what we offer.  We especially welcome parents and students to attend and learn more about their educational options.”

Joe Walker logoStudents accepted to the STEALTH Academy will be able to take part in extra-curricular classes, including Civil Air Patrol, Pre-AP, GATE, robotics, art, drama, music and much more.

“This Community Open House is a perfect opportunity for parents to learn more about the cutting-edge programs Westside offers at Joe Walker STEALTH Academy,” says Westside Union School District Superintendent Regina Rossall. “With a focus on science, technology, engineering and learning through humanities, Joe Walker provides a unique extension of our STEM program.  Students receive a well-rounded education with opportunities to prepare for future careers in leading industries.”
