Job fair this Saturday for AV Solar Projects

by The AV Times Staff • February 28, 2013

NowHiringLANCASTER – SunPower will host a job fair this Saturday (March 2) in order to help fill the anticipated 650 upcoming employment opportunities at the company’s Antelope Valley Solar Projects power plant.

The job fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fairmont Market, located at 22847 W Avenue D and 230th Street West.

The fair will provide opportunities for potential job seekers to learn about the work environment, employment options, as well as other valuable information.

”We are very pleased that SunPower has made such a strong commitment to employ local citizens at this solar plant,” said Mayor R. Rex Parris. “This solar plant aids in our ongoing efforts to bring green and alternative energy jobs to the Antelope Valley region.”

Once completed, the 3,200 acre combined twin complexes, to be built between Rosamond Boulevard and Avenue B, will provide over 579 megawatts of clean energy, enough to power more than 400,000 homes.

Construction is scheduled to begin this year and proceed until the end of 2015. The solar plant is designed to have an operational life expectancy of more than 20 years and will be built with the ability to withstand the high velocity winds common to the Antelope Valley.
