PALMDALE – Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the fire that gutted a Palmdale apartment Monday night.
The incident was reported around 8:13 p.m. at a unit in the Village Garden Apartment at 1020 East Avenue R in Palmdale, according to LA County Fire Department Battalion Chief Garry Harris.
Five engines, two trucks, a paramedic unit, two battalion chiefs and a support vehicle responded to the scene, fire officials said.
Responding units found a room in a ground floor apartment well involved in fire, Harris said.
“An aggressive fire attack was performed,” Harris said. “We held the fire to the room of origin and a hallway. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.”
Fire officials evacuated the occupants in the apartment directly above the burning unit, as a safety precaution, Harris said.
The family was able to return to the apartment, once the operation was completed. The fire was declared knocked down at around 8:32 p.m.
The tenants of the affected apartment were not at home during the blaze. Fire officials were trying to contact those tenants Monday night.
The fire remains under investigation.
