Lancaster joins ProCare Hospice in MLK Day of Service

by The AV Times Staff • December 29, 2012

LANCASTER – ProCare Hospice and the city of Lancaster are partnering to serve local senior citizens through the City’s 6th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Day of Service.

ProCare Hospice will provide makeovers to terminally ill patients as well as the patients’ caregivers at the Casa Amore Residential Care Facility in east Lancaster on Tuesday, January 22, 2013.

“I am so thankful to the city of Lancaster and ProCare Hospice for this generous contribution to our residents and our caregivers who are often times overlooked,” Casa Amore Administrator Maggie Tortorici said in a city news release.

Each makeover includes hairstyling, make-up and a glamour shot photograph. Makeover services will be donated by Marsha Goins of Marsha’s Chair Salon in Lancaster, Sara Ochoa of @Sara’s and local make-up artist Tiffany Derosier, who has worked for Mary Kay Cosmetics and Ultima Salons.

Volunteer during the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service

What began as a single day of service in Lancaster has grown into an entire week of community involvement and improvement across the Antelope Valley. With over 30 projects across 10 straight days, there are assignments for all group sizes, families and individuals of all ages. To volunteer, visit www.cityoflancasterca.org/mlkday.
