Elderly woman on life support after hit & run

by K. Enrique • November 30, 2012

LANCASTER – An 80-year-old woman is clinging to life after being struck by a car while walking to a bus stop early Friday morning (Nov. 30), authorities said.

The incident happened around 7:30 a.m. in the 2500 Block of East Avenue I in Lancaster, according to Lancaster Station deputy Miguel T. Ruiz.

The woman was attempting to walk southbound from the north sidewalk to a bus stop on the south side of the roadway, when she was apparently hit by a vehicle that was exiting a trailer park turning left onto eastbound Avenue I, Ruiz stated.

The driver left the scene without stopping.

The elderly woman suffered serious head trauma and was transported to Antelope Valley Medical Center where she remains on life support.

Her name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

The investigation is ongoing and no further suspect information can be released at this time, Ruiz said.

Detectives are still looking for witnesses. If you have any information on this hit and run, contact the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station at 661-948-8466. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.

God always takes what was meant for bad and uses it for good. I know that she is with our savior Jesus. I loved her too. Her daughter, Lea Adams.

The police and hospital staff are still trying to reach any family members of the victim. If you are related to an elderly woman who live inside Desert Palms MHP,and have not heard from her please contact the police. She is all alone in ICU and needs her family

Has this story and plea for relatives gone out of the AV to other news agencies?

This is literally half a block from my house. People are always shooting through here, often times speeding because it’s less traffic than it is on the west side.

Hope they catch this ***hole and the woman recovers to full health. Sad.

I hope she recovers and the coward that struck her gets caught and put in jail. He or she is dangerous and has no respect for anyone or anything.
