Holiday Toy Express Train rolls through!

PALMDALE – Hundreds crammed the Palmdale Transportation Center Sunday to witness the Holiday Toy Express Train rolling into town from the “North Pole”.

Right around 5 p.m., thousands of twinkling lights illuminated the track and screams filled the air as the festive train pulled into the station.

There was a hush over the crowd, as Santa’s little elves explained the dilemma facing the Holiday Toy Express Train this year.

There are not enough toys for the children on a new list that was just found, exclaimed one of the elves.

And there is certainly not enough time to make all the toys before Christmas, exclaimed another elf.

Santa swooped in and quickly saved the day.

The new list of kids was actually from the Sparkle of Love Toy Drive, and the toys would not have to be made at the North Pole, Santa explained.

Instead, toys for these special kids were being donated by generous, kind-hearted people like you, Santa told the crowd.

All was well again, and Santa and his helpers broke into a live musical performance to a Hip Hop remix of old Holiday Classics.

The show was a hit with young residents.

“It was so colorful and it was all so happy!” gushed 13-year-old Melissa Hinojosa of Palmdale. “I just love Christmas because everyone is jolly and sharing.”

“I really like the way they cared about everyone getting presents from charity,” said 13-year-old Gabby Orellana of Palmale.

(L to R) Melissa Hinojosa and Gabby Orellana, both 13-year-olds from Palmdale, said they enjoyed how colorful the performance was.
Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford and Councilmember Steve Hofbauer greeted the crowd before the show began.
Many little ones were the shoulders of Moms and Dads for a better view.
Frosty the Snowman joined the performance.
Palmdale’s Royal Court was on hand to view the performance.
Once Santa solved the dilemma, the elves and helpers broke into song and dance.
Santa and Mrs. Claus received a rousing reception from the crowd.
In addition to the show, local firefighters were at the station collecting toys for the Spark of Love Toy Drive.

I have to say that this event was especially nice. We may have gotten there after a truckload or two of toys already left because we only saw about 6 bags of toys in the truck..
I know that a lot of people are under-employed, but considering the number of nicer vehicles in the parking lot and the number of people who attended this event there should have been a lot more toys.
