You are invited to ‘Light up a Life’ on Dec. 4

by The AV Times Staff • November 20, 2012

Nearly 200 people attended the 9th annual Light up a Life ceremony in 2011, which was held on The BLVD and Date Avenue.

LANCASTER – Hoffmann Hospice will host its 10th annual ‘Light up a Life’ remembrance ceremony at 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, at Lancaster Boulevard and Elm Avenue.

Hoffmann Hospice of the Antelope Valley invites all members of the community to celebrate the memory of a loved one or honor a personal hero at a heartfelt and inspiring event.

Each year Hoffmann kicks off the Christmas season with a ceremonial lighting of a community Christmas tree. In the soft glow of candlelight, Hoffmann staff and their guests honor the memories of loved ones who have passed away with a reading of names, holiday music, and tree lighting.

Hoffmann Hospice founder Beth Hoffmann states, “The holiday season can be hard for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one. This event allows them a time of reflection among others who may be experiencing a similar loss.”

Keynote speaker Karolyn Grimes, actress and holiday icon ZuZu of It’s a Wonderful Life, will take attendees to a special place of comfort and reassurance as she did in the film.

Grimes will share her personal stories of loss, grief and triumph. “Hospice helps those who are going on to the next adventure and also those who are left behind,” states Grimes.

There is no charge to attend, but guests are invited to purchase a symbolic light on the tree, in memory or in honor of a friend or loved one, with a donation of $10 for each individual honored.

Those who donate a minimum of $100 will receive a commemorative ornament.

To ensure your loved one is included in the ceremonial reading of names, your donation and information must be received by Hoffman Hospice by 12 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28.

For more information, contact Hoffmann Hospice at 661-272-2355.
