Free women’s self-defense seminar set for Saturday

by The AV Times Staff • November 11, 2012

Taekwondo Master William Robinson (pictured) and LAPD Detective Mark Pursel will teach a free women’s self defense seminar on Saturday, Nov. 17, at ATA Martial Arts in Lancaster.

LANCASTER – The holiday season is a festive time of the year, but it can also be a dangerous time – especially for women.

“Women are the biggest targets,” said Taekwondo Master William Robinson, Owner of ATA Martial Arts in Lancaster. “Predators choose women because they consider them to be weak or distracted when they’re shopping during the holidays.”

Robinson is doing his part to help protect women this holiday season by offering a free community class this upcoming Saturday.

The Holiday Safety/Self-Defense Seminar, which is open to females ages 13 and up, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 17, at ATA Martial Arts, located at 1825 West Avenue J, Suite 107, in Lancaster.

Los Angeles Police Detective Mark Pursel will discuss holiday crime prevention and awareness.  And Robinson will teach effective but simple to learn defense and breakaway techniques.

“A lot of people may not be able to afford a normal priced seminar, but this is free because we want everybody to be able to have a chance to learn self-defense moves and holiday safety tips, as well,” Robinson said.

To register for this two-hour class, call 661-948-5425 or e-mail ata-academy@verizon.net.

Registration closes on Friday, Nov. 16 at 5 p.m.

Awesome that you are offering a free class! I am sure many women will appreciate knowing how to protect themselves.
