LANCASTER – A 28-year-old Lancaster man died Monday of injuries sustained during a traffic collision this past weekend.

Enrique Escobar was pronounced dead at 10:14 a.m. Monday at Antelope Valley Hospital, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

Escobar was one of at least four people taken to the hospital Friday night after two cars collided around 8 p.m. at the intersection of 20th Street East and Lancaster Boulevard. The identities of the drivers and the injured passengers have not been released.

Preliminary information gathered at the scene revealed a 2009 Honda was being driven east on Lancaster Boulevard when it was struck by a 2004 Infinity being driven north on 20th Street East, according to Lancaster Station Traffic Sergeant Paul Pfrehm.

Escobar was a passenger in the Honda, which landed on its roof following the collision.

Authorities are still investigating the crash and have not yet determined which party is at fault, but alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the collision, Pfrehm said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to call the Lancaster Station’s Traffic Enforcement Team at 661-948-8466.

So sorry for the family’s loss of Enrique but take solace in the fact that he was a saved man! To be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord. “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” 2 Cor 5:8
