Thieves steal $15K in cash, $15K in cigarettes from Palmdale liquor store

by K. Enrique • September 26, 2012

Palmdale Liquor was burglarized sometime between 10 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday, authorities said.

PALMDALE – Palmdale detectives are asking for the public’s in finding the thieves responsible for smashing a hole through the roof of a liquor store and stealing a gun, several bottles of liquor, and thousands in cash and cigarettes, authorities said.

The incident happened sometime between 10 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday at Palmdale Liquor, in the 2200 Block of East Palmdale Boulevard, according to Palmdale Station Sergeant Andrew Nagel.

“They cut a hole in the roof to gain access to the location,” Nagel said. “The suspects cut a cord to the alarm system and then cut computer cables to the video surveillance system.”

Detectives believe at least two to three people were involved.

The thieves made off with $15,000 worth of cigarettes, $15,900 in cash, four bottles of Cognac, four bottles of Cristal Champagne, nine bottles of Patron Tequila, and a 9 mm handgun, Nagel said.

Detectives believe the thieves stacked boxes of alcohol for a makeshift ladder to exit through the roof after they burglarized the store, Nagel said.

Authorities have taken the store’s computers and are hoping to get evidence that might lead them to the parties responsible.

“They turned it over to the forensics science lab and they’re trying to pull video off it,” Nagel added.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Palmdale Station detectives at 661-272-2400. If you would like to remain anonymous, you may do so by calling Crimestoppers at 800-222-8477.

Sad to say but with the crime so high who would want to open a business in the AV? Sometimes it’s even creepy walking into a Target.
As a veteran I try to make the best of this place for me and my family. It is sad when my kids tell me let’s go to Valencia because shopping here is ghetto.
