PALMDALE – Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a 17-year-old girl’s report that she was raped after she accepted a ride from a stranger Monday morning.

The incident was reported by the teen around 10:30 a.m. Monday, according to Special Victim’s Bureau Detective Brian Hudson. The girl told detectives that she was walking down 10th Street East when an older man drove up alongside her, Hudson said.

“She willingly got inside his vehicle and willingly went with him to the area where the rape occurred,” Hudson said, adding that at some point the suspect may have offered the victim money.

“We’re still trying to investigate the circumstances that actually led up to the sexual assault occurring,” Hudson said.

After the alleged attack, the teen contacted law enforcement and was picked up by deputies on Sierra Highway near Barrel Springs Road.

She described her attacker as a Black male, in his 30s, driving a black newer model four-door car with dealership paper plates, Hudson said.

Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau at 661-940-7850.
