Palmdale DUI Checkpoint nets two arrests, four impounds

PALMDALE – Two people were arrested on suspicion of drunk driving at a sobriety checkpoint in Palmdale conducted Friday night and early Saturday morning.

Deputies also impounded four vehicles because drivers were arrested on suspicion of DUI or did not have valid driver’s licenses, authorities said.

The Palmdale Sheriff’s Station conducted the DUI Checkpoint from 6:30 p.m., Friday to 1 a.m., Saturday in the southbound lanes of 10th Street West, between the intersections of Technology Drive & Auto Center Drive.  The results of the checkpoint are as follows:

  • 1,346 – Vehicles through checkpoint
  • 1,346 – Vehicles screened
  • 4 – Vehicles impounded
  • 0 – Vehicle stored
  • 7 – DUI tests performed
  • 2 – DUI arrests      
  • 4 – Suspended license violations
  • 3 – Unlicensed drivers
  • 0 – Unlicensed drivers’ vehicles released
  • 19 – Other violations

The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the State of California’s Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) through the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency.
