LANCASTER – A Lancaster business was hit by armed robbers Tuesday night, authorities said.
The incident happened shortly before 9 p.m. at Alta Dena Express in the 44900 Block of 10th Street West, according to Lancaster Community Relations Deputy Michael Rust.
“One male Black and one male Hispanic, both of them wearing dark clothing with masks covering their faces, entered the store,” Rust said. “One of guys pulled a handgun from his waist and demanded money.”
Rust said once the thieves got the money, they ran out of the store and escaped on foot.
“The store clerk and a witness followed them out into the alley way, which is right behind the store, and the deputies were already there on the scene responding to the call,” Rust continued. “The deputies saw the suspects jump over a wall into the rear yard of a residence, and they quickly contained the area and started the search.”
Deputies searched with the help of a sheriff’s helicopter, but the search was unsuccessful.
“They recovered some clothing and a BB gun, but they did not find the suspects,” Rust said, adding that the station’s Robbery Suppression Team is currently hunting the two suspects.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Lancaster Station at 661-948-8466. If you would like to remain anonymous, you may do so by calling Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Carnac the Magnificent predicts a new and expanding job in the AV.
Armed Security Guards to protect businesses from Parolees, transplants from ‘Da Hood and other forms of low life that have been infesting the valley of late.
After all, Major TRex can only do so much by himself, well that and his pistol packing wife that is.
Quigley says
The fortunate person to own a security patrol business will be the wealthiest of all in the AV. Of course they can’t hire any Barney Fife’s…
Naysayer says
Are what are you gonna do when the private securtiy guards making 22 and 23,000 a year START STEALING!!! THEN WHAT!
Stinger says
If the City of Lancsater truly wants to improve the circumstances in utilization of private security, they might want to consider requiring all patrol officers in the City to be POST certified and set up a mandatory pay scale for such personnel. You’ll find that doing so will not only improve the professionalism of the private patrol officers, but improve the cooperation between private and public law enforcement industries in the area.
Quigley says
Damn Stinger I agree with you…we are losing the battle against crime in the AV faster then anyone could have imagined.
Naysayer says
Yeah, IM pretty sure getting R. REX and friends over LANCOMPTON to agree to a mandatory pay scale for rent-a-cops is going to swell! *Smirks Sarcastically.* Rex doesnt even pay the damn city workers enough to survive so how is he gonna come up with the money for rent-a-cops? Oh yeah he doesnt believe in paying people just compensation for their work, instead he favors slave labor with BELOW minimun wage pay. Rex WANTS there to be crime because he knows crime keeps people scared, and the more they are scared the more they will vote for a fear mongering dirt bag like him. Its simple. “A war on bloods” LOL as if they are the ONLY gang out here. What about all the meth dealing biker gangs, MS 13, Mexican Cartels wives having babies in the AV hospitals. All of this going on and he wants to twist his mouth and focus on jus ONE street gang? Please give me a break, the real reason crime is going up out here is cuz of REX and NO ONE ELSE!
Stinger says
I did say, “if,” didn’t I? ;-)
Quigley says
Naysayer what the hell…chill out on Rexipoo, you sound like one sick puppy.
legalize says
a “sick puppy”. For what? wondering if the city pays minimum wage? really really? lol
i do know that the city was fighting for desert haven to not have to pay minimum wage for the mentally disabled who did city hall’s cleaning. they said that it was enough that the city was using the mentally disabled to clean up their mess. but if they would have to pay minimum wage anyway, and the desert haven crew is doing just as good a job as anyone else, why shouldn’t they get minimum wage?
legalize says
sorry. that should of been directed at Quigly.
really says
Stinger, you cant do that because POST deals with law enforcement and their programs are geared towards 830 PC which describes a peace officer and their powers. Also there is no way the city can mandate their wage unless the city employs them. That will never occur because the liability is too high. False arrest is looked at much different when done by law enforcement versus civilians acting as agents for an entity. Much greater civil liability when your security guard with no powers of arrest (other than citizens arrest) arrests someone. There is no “detention” on the civilian side only arrest. So when the security guard slaps the hooks on someone it is an arrest.
Stinger says
Obviously, you have no damned idea what you are talking about.
Naysayer says
Well since you feel so adament about it why dont YOU get out there and play Mr. Vigilante rent a cop and watch how quickly you get punched in the mouth, laughed at and robbed. LOL!
Stinger says
Are you sure that you are responding to the right comment, Naysayer? You might want to look again.
really says
Are you sure? Try and find post training for security guards. You wont find it. Security guards are regulated by the BUREAU OF SECURITY AND INVESTIGATIVE SERVICES. If I am wrong show me the penal code sections for a security guards arrest powers. Show me case law that covers detention by security guards. If a security guard “Arrests” someone peace officers are not mandated to take that arrest if they dont feel it meets the legal criteria. When that occurs the arrestee can and will sue the guard as well as the entity who pays for his services.
Stinger says
Go do your own research, really. IF you choose to do so, you’ll find that the private law enforcement industry is far more than just ‘guards.’
QHR says
Why would anyone want to open a business in Lancaster? So they can get robbed??? Crime is not lower. Until it is, how can we have some growth here.
I could not afford to live in Santa Clarita and that’s why I am here. It is disgusting that this happens in our community. Sad to say, I go to shop in the Santa Clarita Valley all the time.

This happened near Avenue I by where the old Wendy’s was, which has been a very dicey part of town for about 15 years now. This isn’t the first time it’s been robbed. In fact, I have it on good faith that Wendy’s won’t be re-built there, but probably somewhere closer to the Jethawks Stadium or west of the freeway somewhere.
I hope they can turn that area around with the “War on Bloods” they’ve officially declared.

A FEW YEARS AGO, MY DAUGHTERS FRIEND ANDREW WAS WORKING THERE, IT WAS ROBBED , AND THEY WENT AFTER THE GUY IN HER CAR, BUT WITH THE ALLEYS AND STUFF AROUND THERE, WELL, HE WAS GONE……………

They probably live at Sunset Ridge apartments. that place has been a cesspool for some time now. Its sad because there are two really good neighborhoods on both sides of it.
Long time AV resident says
I don’t believe Sunset Ridge is near this area. This is on 10th street near older neighborhood and retirement housing.
sacryinshame says
pictures? Someone in that neighborhood would recognize them.
Sparkle says
Wow they must live in that immediate area.
anotherdummy says
Which begs the question… Why do these people [removed] where they eat?
D. Fife says
Do you really have to ask? It’s part of the culture.
