UPDATED: Driver killed, teen injured in suspected DUI crash

by The AV Times Staff • July 25, 2012

UPDATED 7/25/2012 at 4 pm: The deceased driver has been identified as Gannon Coon of Eloy, Arizona. Coon was in town visiting friends in Lake Los Angeles, sheriff’s officials said.

LANCASTER – A 32-year-old suspected drunk driver flipped his truck several times, was thrown from the vehicle, and died at the scene of a single vehicle collision early this morning on Avenue K, near 47th street east, authorities said.

The following is the press report from the Lancaster Station:

Traffic investigators from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station are investigating the circumstances of a single vehicle collision which occurred in Lancaster on July 25, 2012 at approximately 12:55 a.m.

Preliminary information gathered at the scene revealed the pickup was being driven westbound on Avenue K, when for unknown reasons, it left the roadway and rolled over several times.

The victim, MW/32 (driver) was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger, MW/17, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment.

Alcohol appears to have been a factor in this collision.

The identity of the victim or passenger has not been released.

Sheriff’s Detectives continue to investigate this collision, and ask if anyone has information regarding this incident, to contact the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station Traffic Enforcement Team at 661-948-8466.

I’m glad it was Coon killed and not an innocent bystander. Survival of the fittest.
