Thieves steal fertilizer from city park

by The AV Times Staff • July 24, 2012

Thieves stole 50 bags of Best Turf Supreme lawn fertilizer from Pelona Vista Park on July 17. If you notice someone selling this type of fertilizer at a swap meet or garage sale, contact the Palmdale Station.

PALMDALE – Palmdale detectives are asking for the public’s help in catching the thieves responsible for stealing fertilizer from a city park last week.

The incident happened at Pelona Vista Park in the 37000 Block of Tierra Subida Avenue in Palmdale.

The thieves cut a chain on the storage yard’s fence and made off with 50 bags of lawn fertilizer, valued at about $1,500, according to Palmdale Station Lt. Cory Kennedy.

The following is the press report from the Palmdale Station:

On July 17, 2012, a theft of 50 bags of fertilizer occurred from Pelona Vista Park in the City of Palmdale.

The suspects broke into a storage yard and removed bags of Best Turf Supreme lawn fertilizer.

The theft most likely occurred during the late night of July 16 or the early morning of July 17.

We believe it may have taken some time to load all the bags into whatever vehicle may have been used, so someone may have seen something.

We are asking for the public’s assistance.

If anyone has information or may have seen someone selling bags of fertilizer like this [anywhere] other than a licensed business, such as a swap meet or garage sale, they are asked to call the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station at 661-272-2400.

You can contact Lieutenant Cory Kennedy directly at 661-272-2506.

What can bombs be made of? Fertilizer. How did the Oklahoma City bomber make his bomb? Fertilizer. Potential terrorists. This isn’t good.
