LANCASTER – Dozens of classic, late model and custom corvettes were on display at the Jethawks Stadium Saturday as part of the 2nd Annual Diamonds in the Desert Car & Bike Show.
“We have about 75 to 80 cars in addition to Corvette Club Cars, which are probably another 20 or 30,” said John Parker, President of the Antelope Valley Corvette Club.
For local Corvette owners, the event was a chance to showcase their prized possessions.
“We put in some time on our Corvettes so we figured we’d come out and show it off,” said Lancaster resident Danny Lozano. Lozana and his wife, Norma, came out in his and her Corvettes.
Eugene Jones came from Altadena to attend the event.
“I have a Z06 so I came out for the Corvette side of it,” he said.
Shiny chrome aside, the event was also for a good cause.
All proceeds raised will go to the local American Cancer Society. Last year, the event raised about $3,000. Parker says he hopes to beat that record this year.
