“Bring Dad Free” to Drytown on Father’s Day

by The AV Times Staff • June 15, 2012

PALMDALE – The City of Palmdale’s DryTown Water Park is helping kids treat their dads on Father’s Day with a special “Bring Dad Free” offer on Sunday, June 17.

With a season pass or daily admission, children may bring their fathers to DryTown free of charge. The six-acre Old West mining town-themed aquatic park features a 925-foot lazy river, a 35-foot waterslide tower with three waterslides and splashdown pool, and a 6,000 square foot children’s water playground, including a 50 gallon Vortex Splash bucket, three water rings and two water cannons.

The park will soon debut a new slide called Dusty’s Mineshaft Racer.

“This 4-lane racer will launch  riders headfirst into a thrilling 360 degree turn in an enclosed tube, before plunging 40 feet down open-air lanes for a downhill dash to the finish line and a serious drenching,” said DryTown Manager Eric Dombrowski.

A video of the slide may be viewed at www.cityofpalmdale.org/drytown.

“Season passes are still available and truly are a great value,” said Dombrowski. “With them, you not only get to enjoy DryTown every day we’re open, but you also get free admission to ‘Sundown at DryTown.”

“Sundown at DryTown,” a popular event that takes advantages of the Antelope Valley summer evening weather, will take place each Friday from July 6 through Aug. 10, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Season passes may be purchased online at www.cityofpalmdale.org/drytown, or at  DryTown Water Park Town Hall, located at 3850-B East Avenue S, Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
