Rosamond man dies after crashing into power pole

by K. Enrique • May 23, 2012

ANTELOPE VALLEY – A 30-year-old Rosamond man was killed early Wednesday morning, after his vehicle knocked down a power pole and then flipped over, according to a press report by the California Highway Patrol.

The single-car crash happened around 3 a.m., Wednesday on 90th Street East, south of Avenue G-8.  The man was driving a 2000 Honda Accord south on 90th Street East at approximately 55 miles per hour, according to the report.

For unknown reasons, the man’s vehicle drifted to the left, crossed the northbound lane and entered the dirt shoulder.

The vehicle traveled about 150 feet on the dirt shoulder and then crashed into an Edison power pole. The impact sheared off the power pole at its based and caused the vehicle to overturn.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 30-year-old Hispanic man from Rosamond had not been identified as of 11 a.m. Wednesday, pending next of kin notification.

The CHP reports 90th Street East will be closed between Avenue G and Avenue H until approximately 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 23 to allow for repairs.
