Don’t forget to “Tip a Cop” this Wednesday

by The AV Times Staff • May 21, 2012

PALMDALE – Lancaster and Palmdale Sheriff’s deputies will don aprons this Wednesday for a worthwhile cause.

The deputies are teaming up to collect donations for the annual “Tip a Cop” event. This year’s “Tip a Cop” will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Famous Dave’s, located at 1205 West Rancho Vista Blvd in Palmdale.

Deputies from both stations will volunteer as celebrity waiters to promote the Antelope Valley’s Special Olympics program and raise donations for its services in the area.

Both stations are asking members of the public to come out and enjoy an evening of dining while being served by the Valley’s finest.

Special Olympics Southern California is a nonprofit organization that empowers individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive, and respected members of society through sports training and competition.

All proceeds raised during the “Tip a Cop” event will be used for events benefiting Antelope Valley members of the Special Olympics organization.

Must you always be so negative? Famous Dave’s is great! Especially on Thursdays, when they have $1 BBQ ribs… They have scrumptious corn bread too. This is a nice community outreach event for the Sheriffs.
