LANCASTER – Tuesday was a bad day to skip school in Lancaster. Deputies arrested 19 juveniles and 5 adults between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. as part of a truancy operation.
The following is the press release from the Lancaster Station:
On [Tuesday], May 15, 2012, deputies assigned to Lancaster Sheriff’s Station’s Target Oriented Policing (TOP) and Community Oriented Response and Enforcement (CORE) teams, made twenty-four arrests during a four hour “Truancy Sweep” operation.
Of the twenty-four people arrested, nineteen were juveniles, (16 truants and 3 warrants) and five were adults (4 misdemeanor violations and 1 Parole violation).
The juveniles who were found to be “truant,” were all issued citations and released to their parents or guardians.
The operation was conducted in an effort to combat property crimes that occur during school hours.
Parents are reminded that during normal school hours, all school aged children must be on a school campus, or if not attending school that day, then they must be at home.
This includes those children who are being “Home Schooled” or who are on “independent study”.

Sleepless in Lancaster says
If a kid is caught skipping school, first time is a warning to the student and the parents. The second time however, the Mom or Dad, which ever one doesn’t work, goes to school with their child and sits next to them for a week. Like a shadow. They can keep their kid awake, quiet and in class. Also, take everyones cell phones before they go into class. Turning the phone off is not an option. They should have to check it at the office or leave it home. The school is full of adults and there are phones in the office if they have an emergency. Just a thought!

We used to have a great Deputy at Lancaster High. He would come out into the community surrounding the school, and pick up kids. Occassionally, he would have to chase them through the desert, but, he would catch them. He always seemed to be firm, fair and friendly. People in the community hated it when he got re-assigned.

If people didn’t steal and rob it would be less jails, prisons and
holding systems ! If people took charge of their lives and learned
to endure,to take the bitter with the sweet and understand life
is a struggle from birth until death ! Meaning some type of obstacle
is naturally going to come into your path. Thats the way it is!
Less crime less jails, les police and less prison ! Lets stop
crime and senselessless violence and our self control will put
the prisons out of business !!! Prison is a business and the
commodity is the human being ! Crime pay’s !!! The more crime
creates a prison industry ! Please stop the crime and put the
prisons out of busiess! Stop going for the bait like a fish
out of water ! For years I was considered a noble person and
eventually I stepped on some big toes and the wheels started
turning and I was subjected to every known sting that existed:
Sex stings,drug stings,property stings,radical inductions,
race baiting, and all sorts of alurements but because I am not
into drugs and loose sex the stings didn’t work!!! Fools
got right in my face and treated their ladies like a dog hoping
I would say something to lure me into a fight ! Yes, stings
to entrape and throwyou into prison like a fish out of water
in the fish bucket(prison !). Stop going for the bait, stop
being a sucker over and over and over again!!! Crime is a lost
cause, they have that crime cycle sowed up ! I have taught in
prison on both sides. I woke up to the games people play within
prison. I got out and taught he prison pre-release program
therefore I know the inside-outs of the no win situation that
the parolee is in! Stop you can’t win with crime because
The pimp realy isn’t a pimp. If he is they gave him permission
to pimp to get you !!! Stop the vilolence and increase the
peace and you can rise above the entrapments !Let him who has
an ear hear !!!National Public Speaker/Palmdale,Ca.

So sad that we would deam people to make a point! What happen to
the spirit of educate and help the less fortunate, the down
trodden or the wayward ? Thats why I say to religious people
their religion has become worthless !In the book of Isaiah
chapter 61Verse 1:The spirit of the lord is upon me,because
the lord has anoited me to preach good news, to mend broken
hearts and to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening
of prison to them that are bound!!!!
The real deal!

I’ll make it easy for you, Abdul:
People get tired of “lifting the downtrodden” all of the time when they weigh 500 lbs and wont do anything to “lift” themselves!
Abdul Majeed Askia says
I have seen people who weigh five hundred pounds and
I have never insulted or tried to put them down ! The
role of leadership is to inspire, to educate and up
lift and not put down. The people that Jesus took issue
with because supposedly they could see and understand
the condition of mankind but they were indifferent
to the poor,the needy,the lame,the blind,the deaf, the
diseased, the sick and the crippled ! The leadership
and particularly the relgious leadership had
become high and mighty feeling above these unfortunate
misfits! They felt that they would not stoop so
low as to minister to these incorrigibles!!! Thus,
Jesus said I came into the world that those who see,
might not see, and those that are blind might see !!!

Stinger says
As much as I expect that “Yo’s” comment was frivolous and condescending, I find that there is, indeed, a nugget of honest perception in it.
There is a real perception out there that the “downtrodden” are not so trodden upon, but merely willing to accept a lower living standard, provided by public assistance programs, and ‘game the system’ to acuire the most benefits for the least effort. To be fair, there will always be those who fit that profile in any system – be it public assistance, education, or employment. This is, unfortunately, a fact that we have to deal with. However, this perception of a few anecdotal examples being the norm is not quite so accurate and forms an unfair stereotype that colors the entire discussion.
People like “Yo” are legitimately upset by the perception that all of our hard work’s taxes are going towards ‘loafers’ who have no interest in going out to strive for better than being on the public dole. The problem is that those ‘loafers’ are NOT the norm and people like “Yo” are painting with too broad a brush. Statistically speaking, the ‘loafers’ are a small portion of those that are in the social services system.

How about some constructive criticism, on the subject. What ever happened to the full time Truency Officer? It would seem that a permanent officer would actually save the school system some money.
Stinger says
I would tend to agree with you on that, Ed. Back in my days of school, we had deputies assigned to truant detail that concentrated specifically on keeping kids in school. Perhaps that should be brought back full time.
Abdul Majeed Askia says
If all we focus on is negativity in any situation
that is all that we will see. If we learn to look
for the good we will see the good. I often strive
to focus moreso on the good side of life but so
many negative people started attacking me that I
found myself addressing that mind set inwhich I
realized their whole purpose was to offset the
message! In fact if ten people attack you, you
actually wind up responding to ten attack giving
them more of what they say they don’t want! I am
glad there are three hundred million americans!

Got Pollyanna disease?
Some people are lazy, don’t give a damn about themselves or life in general. If they don’t care why should the rest of us give a damn?
