126-acre Acton brush fire fully contained

by K. Enrique • May 9, 2012

ANTELOPE VALLEY – By 11 p.m. Tuesday night, a fast moving brush fire that burned through 126 acres in the Acton area was 100% contained, officials announced.

One mobile home, one outbuilding, two vehicles and two storage containers were burned in the blaze, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The brush fire began around 4 p.m. Tuesday near West Crown Valley Road in the Soledad Canyon area. More than 350 firefighters, five helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft battled the blaze.

About 30 homes were reportedly evacuated Tuesday afternoon, and the order was lifted around 9:30 p.m. Additionally, Metrolink lines were closed north of the Via Princess station and buses were transferring passengers to the Acton, Palmdale and Lancaster stations Tuesday evening.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
