It’s ‘Super Senior May’ at County animal shelters!

LANCASTER – In honor of Older Americans month, the Lancaster Animal Care Center will participate in a month long adoption promotion, aimed towards senior citizens and senior pets.

The promotion, Super Senior May: Never Too Old to Play, runs through May 31, 2012.

To encourage community seniors to adopt, the shelter will waive the adoption fee for senior citizens (60+ years, with proper identification).

To encourage the adoption of senior pets, the shelter will discount the adoption fee for senior pets (animals 5 years and older).

Senior animals make wonderful companion pets and are the prime choice for individuals who do not want the responsibility of training and raising a puppy.  Senior pets are usually more adaptable and integrate well into a new environment. Senior pets are often house trained, have good manners, and have picked up basic lessons and commands, since most of them have lived with a family.

Super Senior May: Never Too Old to Play is sponsored by the Los Angeles Animal Alliance (www.laanimalalliance.org).  The promotion is valid at all County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) shelters, as well as other local animal care agencies throughout Southern California.

The Lancaster Animal Care Center serves the Antelope Valley and is located at 5210 W. Ave. I in Lancaster. It’s open from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday – Thursday, and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Call 661-940-4191 for more information.

For more information about DACC’s upcoming events, or to view adoptable pets online, visit animalcare.lacounty.gov or visit their Facebook page here.
