Have ‘Coffee with the Captain’ this Thursday

Lancaster Station Captain Bob Jonsen.

LANCASTER – Lancaster Station Commander, Captain Bob Jonsen, is inviting you to join him this Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., at The Bandstand coffee house, located at 706 W Lancaster Blvd. in Lancaster.

Captain Jonsen will be available for any questions you may have concerning public safety in Lancaster and will also discuss the current crime trends in the area.

The meeting is part of the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station’s “Coffee with a Deputy” program, a monthly meeting that provides a forum for residents to meet with Lancaster Station deputies, to get to know them, and to bring problems in the community to their attention.

The first “Coffee with a Deputy” meeting was held on March 8, at the Lemon Leaf Café on Lancaster Blvd. The Vacation Watch Program, speeding in school zones, and neighborhood crime mapping were just a few of several issues raised at that meeting. Read more here.

  3. Because Mr Ledford has more integrity than to align his self with the low life. They have nothing in common.

    As for the lasd, if they were following the laws, no one would have to call them out on misconduct. This I know fact!

  4. Maybe they would have better attendance if they it for a time when people are not at work. Do they forget the majority of AV residents commute? Not everyone is free so early in the a.m. on a weekday. The people who are concerned about the crime are the ones who are away from their homes all day long.

  5. The problem for the LASD Lancaster Station is Trust. In aligning themselves so closely with the vitriolic mayor, who has created a climate of fear and distrust in the community, they have cost themselves the image of impartiality. This is costing them a lot of public distrust whenever any incident involving a use of force occurs.

    Captain Jonsen would be wise to reconsider his public support for all things Parris and try to set some distance between the LASD and the blowhard mayor.

    • Stinger,where do you get this stuff? I don’t have any problem trusting Lancaster Sheriff station,or any other police for that matter. Yes, most departments have a few guys making occasional mistakes, but what is happening country wide is ghetto dwellers are criticizing every move the cops make lately. Now we have cops showing up to shots fired calls,confronting armed gunman, guys with swords,etc,then people like you criticize them when they shoot the bad guy. I’m betting there are probably 10 cops in Lancaster who’ve even met Parris. They work for the sheriff’s dept, not Parris. Yes the cities who contract with the sheriff have influence, but they have nothing to say about uses of force. The cops do what they do based on written laws. Why don’t you go meet that captain so he can school you on your ignorant views. And take blowhard Pelka with you! Cowards!

          I will agree with you, though, that Parris gets too much credit for the hard work that the deputies do out here. I will even agree with you that the average deputy could probably care less about Parris, but that is not what I was referring to in my original statement, is it. As usual, the Parris-paid bloggers refuse to look at what was actually posted and, instead, go for the ‘you must be a criminal’ crap. My original statement had to do with public image and trust – two very important currencies for good police/community relations – that are being destroyed by Parris’ divisive commentary and the alignment of the command level LASD station personnel.

          Now then, do you want to debate, or just continue the attack/counterattack stuff. You decide.
