LANCASTER – A midday drug bust Tuesday yielded a large caliber handgun, nearly $400 in cash, and nearly five pounds of marijuana, plus scales, baggies and other evidence associated with the sale of marijuana, according to Lancaster Sheriff’s Spokesman Michael Rust.
Dewayne Curry, 32, was arrested for possession of marijuana and felony possession of a firearm, said Rust.
The following is the press release from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station:
Shortly before noon on Tuesday (February 28, 2012), a search warrant was served in the 43000 block of 16th Street West in the city of Lancaster.
As a result of the warrant, the deputies seized nearly five pounds of packaged marijuana, a large caliber handgun, and nearly four hundred dollars in cash.
The marijuana has an estimated street value of three thousand dollars.
Authorities say most of the contraband was found stuffed in this backpack.
They also seized other evidence related to the sales of marijuana.
The resident, 32-year-old Dewayne Curry was arrested and faces charges related to the sales of marijuana as well as being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
The warrant was part of an on-going investigation led by LANCAP [Lancaster Community Appreciation Program] deputies into the sales of narcotics at the location.

$400.00 all in ones, it’s a lot of dough.
Dear Readers,
After more than a decade of serving the Antelope Valley, we have made the difficult decision to close The Antelope Valley Times. The site will no longer be updated, but all past articles will remain accessible. Thank you for your loyalty and support over the years.
