MOAH seeking entries for Art Exhibition, deadline is Monday

by The AV Times Staff • January 21, 2012

LANCASTER – The Museum of Art and History (MOAH) is currently seeking art entries for “The Next Step,” MOAH’s 27th Annual Juried All Media Art Exhibition.

The exhibition is open to artists of all ages who are current High Desert residents. All media types are accepted, from fine arts to nontraditional, electronic and digital media.

Submissions must be received by mail or in person by 4 p.m. on Jan. 23, 2012. Artists will be notified of inclusion on January 27, 2012.

Winning entries will be displayed in various Lancaster BLVD businesses from Friday, Feb. 3 through Sunday, March 25.

A number of cash prizes will be awarded. Artist applications and guidelines are available in person at the Museum of Art and History or Lancaster City Hall Department of Parks, Recreation and Arts, or can be downloaded online here.

A special opening reception for community members and artists will be held on Thursday, Feb. 2, at 6 p.m. at RoShamBo Lounge located inside BeX Bar and Grill at 706 West Lancaster BLVD.

For the second year in a row, the City of Lancaster and the Museum of Art and History will be relying on Lancaster BLVD businesses to host and exhibit selected art pieces for the duration of the show.

Lancaster BLVD will be transformed into a temporary museum where, through collaboration between local artists, businesses and the museum, patrons will be able to walk between each public display of art as part of a “living” museum space.

“The Next Step” promotes community involvement in the arts by encouraging residents to walk Lancaster BLVD and participate in this group show.

The current list of participating BLVD businesses includes: AV Bank, AV Dance Studio ’81, Aven’s Fine Home Furnishings, Caramel Pastries, Graphic Experience, Forge, Juice Box, Kinetic Brewing Company, Lancaster Performing Arts Center, MGS Custom Bikes & Apparel, RoShamBo Lounge inside BeX Grill.
