by The AV Times Staff • December 16, 2011

PALMDALE –The South Valley WorkSource Center (SVWSC) will host a National Emergency Grant (NEG) Displaced Worker Orientation for workers who were laid off from Pyramid Services in March 2010 and Lockheed Martin in Palmdale between Dec. 2010 and Jan. 2011.
The orientation will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Center, located at 38510 Sierra Highway in Palmdale.
Job seekers must arrive promptly at 2 p.m. to participate in the orientation and must call 661-265-7421 to register. Participants must bring a copy of their lay off letter and any other supporting documentation.
The grant enables SVWSC to provide the following benefits to displaced workers of the Pyramid Services and Lockheed Martin in Palmdale for a limited time and free of cost:

  • On the job training
  • Paid work experience and internships
  • Customized training
  • Supportive services, which assist with financial barriers that may be preventing individuals from rejoining the workforce.

Individuals who have been recently laid off from a company other than Pyramid Services and Lockheed Martin in Palmdale and are still unemployed,  may also be eligible for free of cost benefits through the South Valley Work Source Center.  Call 661-265-7421 for more information.
