City of Bell Mayor to speak at Palmdale Chamber luncheon

by The AV Times Staff • December 16, 2011

Ali Saleh

PALMDALE – On Wednesday, Dec. 21, City of Bell Mayor Ali Saleh will be the guest speaker at the Palmdale Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon. Saleh helped organized the Bell Association to Stop the Abuse which was instrumental in bringing publicity to the corruption that was plaguing the City of Bell. Saleh played a significant role in the recall of the council members and administrators which eventually led to a special election in which Saleh was elected Mayor. One of his first acts as mayor was to begin a campaign to implement ethical best practices, transparency, and fiscal reform in the City of Bell.

Saleh will speak about the importance of transparency in government, the importance of business in every community, and his plan to create low-interest loan programs for small businesses in California. Attendees are encouraged to come with questions for Saleh; business-oriented questions are recommended.

George Rasmussen

The luncheon will also feature the annual “State of the Chamber” report delivered by Chairman George Rasmussen. The report will present a summary of the Chamber’s 70th year, including: annual events, economic development, and membership.

Antelope Valley Harmony Showcase will provide musical entertainment with holiday songs.

The Palmdale Chamber of Commerce luncheon takes place at The Palmdale Hotel, 300 W. Palmdale Blvd. on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 11:15am – 1:00pm.

Luncheon tickets are $20 for members and $25 for non-members and can be purchased at palmdalechamber.org or by calling 661-273-3232.
