Aerospace Academy selects officers, appoints new Board Member

by The AV Times Staff • November 2, 2011

PALMDALE – The Board of Directors of the Palmdale Aerospace Academy selected its officers and appointed an additional Board Member at its inaugural meeting of the Board of Directors last week.

Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford was chosen as President; local businessman and charter school operator Dante Simi, Treasurer; and Aero Institute Executive Director Susan Miller, Secretary.

The Board is also charged with appointing someone from the private aerospace industry and a parent representative. At its October 2011 meeting, the Board took action to appoint David Eneix to the Board.

Since 2006, Eneix has served as a Tool Design Engineer at Northrop Grumman (representing the private aerospace sector), and previously served in the US Army as a Missile Engineer. The parent representative will be appointed once the Academy is opened in September 2012.

The Board of Directors oversees the development and operation of the Palmdale Aerospace Academy. The charter school will place a special emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The Academy is located at the former Cactus/Sage site at 20th Street East and Avenue R, which is currently being repurposed as a K-12th grade site. Complementing the location is the SAGE Planetarium.

The Board is composed of appointees from the City of Palmdale, the Palmdale School District, and the Aero Institute. The Aerospace Academy was official chartered through the Palmdale School District in September 2011.

Well that sure explains a few things. I would think that would be a conflict of interest on behalf of the Palmdale School District and her decision making of how funds should be spent. Mr. & Mrs. both score!

I am quite sure there are others behind the scene who are profiting from this venture….just wait and see when it all goes public. I can hardly wait for the audit!

Is Mr. David Eneix married to Sandy Corrales-Eneix, who is a PSD Board Member?
