by The AV Times Staff • October 4, 2011

PALMDALE – If you are currently unemployed due to a layoff from Lockheed Martin in Palmdale, or one of several other Southern California companies, then you may be eligible for on-the-job training; paid work experience and internships; customized training; and supportive services to assist with financial barriers preventing you from re-joining the workforce.

The South Valley WorkSource Center (SVWSC) will host a displaced worker orientation from 2 to 4 p.m., Thursday, October 6th, at its office at 38510 Sierra Highway in Palmdale.

The orientation is open to individuals who were laid off from the following companies:

To register for the displaced worker orientation, call 661-265-7421.  Participants must arrive promptly at 2 p.m. on Thursday and bring a copy of their layoff letter and any other supporting documentation.

SVWSC has recently received a National Emergency Grant to provide the following benefits for a limited time and free of cost to displaced workers of the above-mentioned companies: On-the-job training; paid work experience and internships; customized training; and supportive services which assist with financial barriers that may be preventing workers from re-joining the workforce.

If you have recently been laid off from a company not listed above and are unemployed, you may still be eligible for free benefits available through the South Valley Work Source Center. Call 661-265-7421 for more information.
