RIVERSIDE – Results of the autopsy for 68-year-old Dennis Katz of Palmdale is pending, and no other details are being released at this time, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Katz died at the hospital, one day after sustaining injuries during a struggle with Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies in the Norco High School parking lot.
According to the sheriff’s report, on September 22, at 7:30 a.m., deputies responded to Norco High School to assist school officials with a suspicious man in a vehicle in the school’s staff parking lot. It was reported to the deputies that the man was in need of medical assistance.
Paramedics arrived, and as they examined Katz, deputies detained him to investigate his presence at the school.
“During the detention the subject exited the vehicle, assaulted the officer, and a struggle ensued… The suspect sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital,” the report states.
Katz passed away early Friday morning and an autopsy was performed by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau Friday.
Due to the ongoing investigation, no other details were being released.
