PALMDALE – The City of Palmdale’s Next Generation Youth Council will host “Celebrate Youth 2011,” a summit for ages 12 through 24 on Tuesday, Aug. 23 from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Larry Chimbole Cultural Center.
“This is a great opportunity for youth to join their peers for an afternoon that highlights the youth of our community and provides a forum for them to discuss a variety of topics that are important to them,” said Community Programs Supervisor Trish Jones. “We encourage all eligible youth to come out and participate in the ‘Celebrate Youth’ summit.”
The after school event, planned by youth for youth, will offer breakout sessions on a variety of topics including social networking, emergency preparedness, friendships and relationships, art expression and personal bias. Dinner will be provided. Additionally, the Summit will be joined this year by representatives from “Bike and Build,” a national group that organizes cross country bike rides for college students who work to build affordable housing in communities along the route.
