Tim Scott says
California will be electing a new governor this November. The ‘top two’ primary is next month. It will pare down the six major candidates to two, providing a clear choice to be made in November.
Recent polling indicates that one or the other Republican candidates will almost certainly come in second, making it onto the November ballot. This has the GOP in a total lather. They are all bouncing around with “taking California back” on their lips and smiles on their faces. To keep their spirits up they are ignoring:
1) Their two main candidates are a typical Republican; three term state assemblyman from the GOP enclave of Orange County best known for telling a whopping lie about Democrats, and a Trumpist nut. Their respective supporters are calling each other crazies, or RINOs, respectively.
2) The number one Democratic party candidate is fending off three major challengers and a bushel of Democrats from every corner of the state running local “I ran for governor once” campaigns. Despite that, he is polling about even with the two main Republicans combined. His entire campaign, thus far, has been about beating Antonio Villarogosa by enough of a margin to keep the former mayor of Los Angeles off the November ballot, since Villorogosa is generally recognized as the only person who might be able to challenge him.
So, to win in November one or the other Republican would have to win over all the supporters of the other Republican, and then they would have to get a better than even split with Newsom out of the supporters of all the Democrat challengers. The Republicans are ignoring this seemingly obvious reality.
To help them avoid facing that, they are massively celebrating about what they are calling the ‘resurgence’ they are illustrating by getting a Republican into second place and on the November ballot. Admittedly, Democrats are helping to fuel the celebration, since early on there was a feeling among Democrats in California that with Newsom and Villarogosa as strong and fairly evenly matched candidates it might be possible to get both onto the November ballot and incline California Republicans to just stay home.
The pin in the GOP balloon here seems so obvious that it is hard to believe that even Republicans can ignore it. The Democrats were excited about the prospect of knocking the GOP off the November ballot for a very good reason. It would be a FIRST, if it had happened. The Republicans are celebrating about getting a second place finish to keep them on the ballot even though there hasn’t been a governor’s race without a Republican on the ballot since the ‘top two’ primary was adopted.
Can anyone explain how the Republicans have become so self deluded?
Really says
I believe that prop 14 didnt go into effect until 2011. That means there hasnt been a real test of it at the governors level. I think the delusion you speak of is republicans seeing that a republican can make the ballot for governor. Im skeptical a republican could win, but to me there will always be potential for an upset in a midterm. Many Californians are liberal and when all politicians on ballot are liberal it takes away some drive for dems to vote. If republicans can turn out vote it will be an interesting result. Also dont negate the fact that many dems here are saying the state is becoming too liberal.
Tim Scott says
Who do you see as having the better shot at turning out vote:
The long standing Republican trying to continue his political career to the next level, who is being painted by half the Republicans as a RINO swamp creature?
Or the “I’m Trumpier than Trump” openly racist dingbat?
Personally, I don’t see either of them really energizing a united Republican turnout.
Really says
You are looking at it from your slanted view. Thats like me saying which womanizer will get more dem turnout. Those opinions only truly effect the opposite party usually. The question is will ca dems stay home because theres no national implication. If it was a presidential year or presidential primary youd have it sewn up. I think you may be missing the swell of californians who feel we have gone to far left. Theres a bunch of them and might i remind you to turn to the whitehouse to see what happens when people are frustrated. I know a dem will probably win but i think it will be closer than you think
Tim Scott says
LOL…my “slanted view” is the view of someone who was raised a Republican, served a Republican commander in chief, and stuck with the Republicans when they invited the crazies into the “big tent.” Just because I left when the crazies subsequently took over don’t assume that I have no sympathy. It isn’t “my slant” that I’m talking about.
The GOP is about evenly split between their two candidates, and the supporters on opposing sides of that divide are almost as bitter at each other as they are at Democrats. That’s just a fact I didn’t make up that one half is calling the other side’s candidate a RINO swamp creature.
I also didn’t make up that their candidate is openly embracing all the characteristics in Trump that lead to the “anti-Trump” movement within the GOP. Trump survived that, because “anti-Trump” at the time meant voting for Hillary, who the GOP machine had spent decades building into a monster to scare little Republicans around the campfire with. Without such a monster do you really see traditional Republicans supporting a guy emulating Trump at his worst?
Either one can count on…really count on…support from about half the Republicans. The other half is iffy.

The dumbest parts of the Palmdale/Lancaster cactus curtain feud: Too many to mention, but it all starts with pride and arrogance. ‘Round and ’round and ’round we go. Too many people blame Rex and his minions, but don’t care enough to vote. Rex is taking over, and it’s all his fault, and we can’t do anything about this utterly hopeless situation. 11.2% is an appallingly low number that actually voted in Lancaster. So just sit back and complain about the disease that is supposedly spreading to Palmdale, because there is nothing anyone can do, but sit back and watch. Wow, really.
William says
Bex closes. Now, a long time furniture store, Aven’s, is closing due to the retirement of the owner.
So, what’s left on the failed blvd experiment? I guess the Aven’s building will become another thrift store giving all the other thrift stores in Lancaster some competition.
The blvd was predictably a failure from its inception. Is there anything in Lancaster that works? It’s a city full of ‘bad ideas’ led by people who are out only for themselves such as Rex Parris.
Now, they want to infiltrate Palmdale with the same mentality. No. That is unacceptable.
Steve Hofbauer is unacceptable. I’m in his district. No, wait. It’s MY distrcit not his. I’ll do my part in seeing he’s gone next time he runs.

Lancaster’s crime rate is higher than Palmdale’s and the rest of the Antelope Valley.

Is a march/protest really a march/protest when it features musical performances by pop stars and appearances by celebrities? Sounds more like the intro to the mtv awards. Is it really taking up a cause and fighting for what you believe in when your given a free bus ride or lyft offers free rides to the event? Its very ironic that the same celebrities are present at all the other protests like the womens march. I have looked at the signs being waved about and they all say ban assault weapons, less guns etc. I have yet to see one that says anything other than a platitude or some form of get rid of guns. I dont think I want to listen to someone like David Hogg who says we are too old and dont know how to use a F’ing democracy. The amazing thing is I dont think ive ever seen a march that advocates lessening someones rights.

@Really…Rapper Vic Mensa who performed at march/protest, was convicted of a gun crime in 2017. There is so much more to uncover that corrupts this seemingly noble intention. F__k the AV says
The ‘ole Reagan is great! revisionism. It’s ranks right up with the war-criminal-accessory-to-mass-murder Bush being lauded as a good president.
Alexis says
Oh William, you know POTUS sent his scouts Bill Clinton, and Anthony Weiner to size up the situation. I’m not political, but even I can see why most people are going after Trump, trying to come up with something to get him out. When Bill Clinton was President, he got away with doing the same thing only he was likable, so people were willing to overlook his inappropriate behavior with women that spanned decades. Read your history, and you will see how many Presidents carried on with women. It comes from both sides. Evidence is going to have to be more substantial than the woman issue, but the case is building.
Tim Scott says
As far as history with reasonable evidence goes, many presidents were womanizers, often using their positions of wealth and power as an aphrodisiac while having affairs outside their marriage. However, credible rape and assault accusations seem to be lacking pre-Trump. Accusations of that sort against Clinton were pretty thoroughly investigated by a hostile and highly partisan congressional committee that couldn’t find anything. Trump though seems to have not only been caught boasting about such behaviors but has routinely paid off his accusers to quiet them and avoid investigation. I’m thinking this is a significant escalation.
Alexis says
Yes many presidents were womanizers, but assault and rape allegations by at least 4 women against Bill Clinton aren’t credible. Thoroughly investigated really doesn’t mean anything, because it’s all relative. You know a case can be thoroughly investigated and the truth is still hidden. This all about getting Trump out by any means possible, because he is an embarrassment and dangerous. So was Bill Clinton, but is was more likable. Our political system is corrupted, and all the back and forth fighting is destroying this nation. Bill Clinton was just sneakier. Bill Clinton and Hillary received campaign donations and was (is) very good friends with Harvey Weinstein, and went to this rapist for advice about his sex addiction and the problems it was causing with his public image.
Alexis says
Starting with Thomas Jefferson, a rapist, and on down the line. Just like guilty Bill Clinton, of misconduct, along with Trump. Quite different than consensual. Highly partisan when it comes to both sides.
William says
The joke in Slovenia where Melania’s family lives is that if she divorces trump, they get half of the United States.

Lancaster also has a flat line EEG as well.

Lancaster is also noted for its oddball mayor who once piped bird sounds on the BLVD to reduce crime. Not only did crime rise, but so did panhandling.
Not to be outdone, its equally as weird vice mayor told people that a natural gas power plant would emit a six mile high plume of pollution that would block air traffic and kill minority children on Lancaster soccer fields.
Lancaster is corrupt and weird.
William says
Can anyone name a single thing that Rex & Co. have done that has been successful?
Everything has either been a failure, a flop, or contraversial and divisive such as the solar fields affecting homeowners in the west valley or the proposed Walmart across from Quartz Hill High School.
Rex is a mini-Trump. They were separated at birth. Both are full of themselves with outsized egos, pitching projects to help their buddies, and being thoroughly disgusting human beings that somehow garner the support of religious folk.
And, the hypocritical religious folk blame everyone but themselves for the decline of the Christian brand in this country. Funny how Trump/Rex are part of the same dysfunctional ‘family’ in this country as the religious right/evangelicals.
Loam says
I love the comments about “song birds on the BLVD”. You know the speakers play music, don’t you?

They stopped playing the bird songs on the BLVD not long after Rex told the Wall Street Journal that his bird songs were lowering crime city wide. I bet dollars to donuts that the reporter couldn’t stop laughing.
Wacky stories, all right. All from the twisted mind of our mayor.
Sandra says
lol your right. Lancaster is the most corrupt city I have ever seen. I don’t know why no one investigates Rex. Maybe because they are to weird.

It was not exactly founded in Lancaster, CA. Though Johnson, here in the AV took it over after Shenton died.

Alexis says
Flat Earth Society of Covenant People Church in Lancaster Ca. Tax exempt of course.

William says
What??? The blvd was supposed to be a WORLD CLASS DESTINATION, a ramblas like they have in Spain and on and on.
I knew it was gonna go down eventually from the very start. There were too many things that weren’t gonna work for what it was supposed to be. There were only about 2 blocks of new places and the rest looked deserted with some of the old businesses and what looked like perpetually vacant storefronts. And, it wasn’t easy to get to from anywhere but the nearby neighorhoods compared to the Antelope Valley Mall right off the 14.
Sheesh. 47th Street East in Palmdale is way busier without the hype.
Driving the blvd was annoying. There was nothing much on the side streets or the parellel streets such as Milling. It really didn’t matter how much hype rex blew out his pie hole. It was doomed from the start……………unless he wants to invest miliions of his own money to make it happen. There are small towns with similar old town type of areas that are doing way better than a city of 150,000+ with another one adjacent.
I used to say it was like a hotel ballroom that was only used for events like the farmer’s market and the halloween thing but empty most of the time.
Oh, well. Whoever did the landscaping for it made some money and isn’t that what’s really important?
Lizzy says
I moved to Lancaster in 2001. I would say to people, it’s so quiet, I can hear a pin-drop. And ask, “where are the people”. It’s so peaceful, that when you drive on the 14 and cross the hump over by Ave S new the lake, the environments changes. Even the sky has a beautiful blue look, you can see the mountain, so clear, compare to LA or SFV.
ANYWAY,.. I see the difference, Lancaster is booming. I overheard a conversation in Palmdale about being denied a business license in Lancaster, so they opened shop in Palmdale. He said, Lancaster is so strict in licensing someone. Palmdale gives you no trouble.
I’m happy to see more businesses opening, It’ won’t hurt the environment, there’s plenty of land for everyone. More business, more work, more jobs. Ask those the commute.
Another thing that I notices, meteorologist are including Lancaster in their news reports. That’s great, we are being put on the map.

This should be a warning to companies that think there is an attraction in moving to a red state. The vote is mighter than the bullet. I wonder if our own incumbent knuckeheads in this area are even aware of the shift.

Thank you Walmart! says
Walmart stopped selling assault weapons in 2015. Now Walmart has raised the age of gun purchases to 21 years old. Thank you Walmart!
Really says
Walmart just announced it will raise age to buy firearms and ammo to 21. Now we will see if there is equal protection under the law. How is refusing to sell a gun to an 18yr old any different than refusing to bake a cake for a same sex wedding? Law says u must be 18 to buy a rifle. I think if Walmart had any fortitude and wanted to make a real statement they would stop selling guns. Oh but wait they probably make a ton of money from that… better to deprive 18year olds of their constitutional rights. If we are going to change things lets do the real thing.
Juvenilles cant get life without parole due to their brain not being fully formed. Juveniles must consult with a lawyer prior to waiving miranda because brains arent fully formed until the early twenties. Teens shouldnt be able to buy guns because.. whatever they site.
Well if that is the case then driving should be raised to 21. Voting should be 21 and military service should be 21….
Tim Scott says
Unfortunately for your argument age is not a protection factor in title II of the civil rights act, so your position disintegrates upon cursory examination. Basically, when you ask “How is refusing to sell a gun to an 18yr old any different than refusing to bake a cake for a same sex wedding?” the answer is “gender is a characteristic protected from discrimination, age is not.” The only laws relating to age discrimination cover employment, and they protect older citizens against discrimination, not younger.
Nice try though.
Really says
Which just shows the complete nonsense of those laws. Discriminate because someone is 18 its ok, over 40 no good. Discrimination is discrimination. Its nice that you picked one part of my statement but ignored the rest. If people want to change laws they should do so. Until then sell guns to all who are legally allowed or stop selling guns. Tim even though you and i dont see things the same, sensibly we should both be able to say if it is legal no person should be discriminated against. If a business cant stomach that then they should get out of that market. By doing so they would not be discriminating however they would lose money. I would have total respect if they announced they have decided to exit the firearms business. I have nothing but contempt for their pandering to hysteria all while crossing there fingers behind their back.
Tim Scott says
There are real differences between an 18 year old and a 21 year old. There aren’t real differences between one guy who has a wife and another guy who has a husband. Just like it isn’t unreasonable to say “to work this job you need to be able to lift 50 pounds,” it isn’t unreasonable to say “before i sell you this weapon of war you need to have a designated amount of life experience.”
Really says
Stop shirking the issue. I agree there are differences. Refer to my original post. Voting should be delayed as well as military enlistment if people believe 18 yr olds aren’t competent enough to handle things. I agree two guys want a cake and you sell cakes, sell them a cake! But if the law says you can buy a rifle/shotgun at 18, you sell them a rifle/shotgun. If as a business you refuse to do so then get out of the business of guns. If people want to change laws then do it! This virtue signaling BS is ridiculous. And for what? There are well over 300 million guns in the US and probably 40% of americans own firearms. As far as gun control goes that genie was let out of the bottle pretty much when our country was founded. Now if you want to talk about school security and mental health we might actually be able to make progress
Tim Scott says
Before we get too far down this rabbit hole I’d like to point out that when you say “if people want to change laws then do it” you should acknowledge that you are talking to yourself. There is no law preventing a business…any business…saying “we don’t want to do some or all of our business with people of certain ages.” That’s the law as it stands, and WalMart can legally do what they are doing. If you think they should be prevented from this by law, then propose such a law and fight for it.
It’s funny that the cake example comes up, because a bakery owner could in fact say “I personally believe that these people are too young to get married so I won’t provide a cake” and as long as they were consistent they would be fully within the legal boundaries…just like WalMart is on this gun thing.
If you want to change the law, go for it. Equal rights for 18 year olds!
This is fun says
“A well-regulated….”
Let the courts decide. Remember when the republicans were legislating ‘voter suppression’. Then it went to the courts and many new regulations were ruled unconstitutional.
But, somehow the republicans aka gun lobby hors don’t like legislation that might overstep constitutional rights.
How about that, Really? l say legislate away and the courts will decide unless you’re afraid of the 3rd branch of government enshrined in the Constitution. Don’t be difficult.
Really says
Im fine with that. But we should be honest and realize that the real goal of the left is banning private ownership of firearms. If thats the case get to work on amending the constitution.
Happiness is a warm gun says
I feel safe with Mayor Parris and his wife having a permit to carry a concealed weapon. It’s not like one of them would try to get on an airplane with a gun, right?
Let it be says
Move on for your own peace of mind.
Happiness is a warm gun says
Move on for piece of mind? Knowing those two have a permit to carry a concealed weapon gives no peace of mind. His temper is legendary. But when you write big checks to Baca, Cooley, and Lacey, they overlook your background and traits.
Tim Scott says
There are so many things glaringly wrong with the statement “the real goal of the left is banning private ownership of firearms” that I can’t even figure out where to start. Fortunately you move on with “if that’s the case,” which makes things easier.
That isn’t the case. There are no real indications that that is even remotely the case, outside the world of paranoid accusations from places like Breitbart.
Problem solved.
Really says
I have no idea what breibart has to say. Tim let me ask you this. What is the difference in functionalitly between an ar-15 and a ruger mini14 ranch rifle? Beside aesthetics. What is your opinion on that rifle?
This is fun says
Really’s first mistake is saying “But we should be honest….” and then tells a whopper.
The left is saying that? I didn’t know that the left spoke with 1 voice. In fact, that’s the problem with the left, It’s like herding cats through an airport.
Maybe Really should go back to high school. Those students seem to be the only ones having an intelligent thing to say on the subject.
Until then, he’s left channeling the gun lobby. The monolithic ‘right’ thinks the left is likewise of one simple mind.
Really?
Really says
Your right, I shouldnt paint with a broad brush. But it is hard to see how many dont have that as a goal. Let me ask you which guns do you want banned?
This is fun says
It’s pointless discussing this with you, Really?
If I give you an answer, you’ll go to the next questions and the one after that and the one after that….to infinity. You ‘really’ don’t and won’t accept any answer. But, but, but…. What’s in a name?
I know how your brain works.
The gun debate is over and our Really person shows up why. Thank you for that.
Jasper says
The only guns I want banned are those in the hands of criminals and irresponsible people. Like the ones who try to board airplanes in Burbank with a gun in their purse and have their spouse make up a story about it.
Alexis says
@This is fun…Thank you.
This is fun says
You’re welcome, Alexis
Tim Scott says
My opinion is that neither needs to be in the hands of an angry youngster, and either one would be put to good use if you stuck the muzzle in your lying mouth.
As to having “no idea what Breitbart has to say,” you actually said it yourself.
“The real goal of ‘the left’ (who is that exactly, by the way?) is banning private ownership of firearms.”
This piece of manure is revealed by the use of the word “real.” It acknowledges that this mysterious ‘left’ NEVER says anything like this. This mysterious ‘left’ specifically does NOT say anything like this, but Breitbart and their parrots wish that this mysterious left WOULD since they want to rile people up against this ‘left.’
So, we have a lie about what some unspecified people are thinking, not backed by anyone ever saying that they think it or any clear way to determine who this anger and hatred is even supposed to be directed against. The grand and typical false accusations of Breitbart…and you. So, are you just a second hand parrot, or do you make up ‘original’ whopping lies that just happen to match up with theirs?
This is even more fun says
LL Bean has joined by not selling guns to those under 21.
This is called “Fighting fire with fire.” The gun lobby spends millions and if money is the critical factor then companies are doing their part.
Who is next? There are already enough guns in this country and starving the gun manufacturerrs is a good idea. Replacing elected officials who are owned by the gun lobby is another one. Both are constitutional and don’t violate the sacred 2nd Amendment that gun lovers hold so dear. If gun manufacturers are losing income then they have less money to buy nearly all Republicans and a few Democrats.
Funny how Trump said he was paying for his own campaign and wasn’t beholden to anyone. Then, he accepted $30,000,000 in contrbutions from the gun lobby. He is the lying-est sleaze ever to occupy the White House.
Who here voted for him? Speak up and be proud.
Alexis says
@This is even more fun…Thank you again, for an intelligent comment.
Really says
Speaking of angry people, you should talk to someone. Advocating that someone stick a gun in their mouth seems a little angry and some might even say deranged. The enemy of civil discourse is zealotry. The fact that you believe I am parroting a website I dont read seems to show that you must read all your sites then read all the other sites in order to be able to cite things at a moments notice. Seems like the behavior of a fanatical person. You know whats funny is that the latimes guy wrote an article today where he agreed with most of what I was saying originally. Where we differ is that he just wants ar15’s banned outright. To me this makes not much sense and coupled with people like you who obfuscate when asked direct questions about what gun laws they want to see makes me think that many on the left want to see firearms banned period. The logic behind banning ar-15s boils down to one of two reasons. Either its because they look mean or its because its a good place to start. So I’ll refrain from saying hateful things and just ask you Tim what gun laws do you want to see passed. Who knows maybe I support them too…
Tim Scott says
Somehow I missed this question.
Every gun should have a registered owner, who is legally accountable for any damage done with that gun. Transferring that legal ownership should be the responsibility of the registered owner, and should only be allowed if the person it is being transferred to has been licensed to own such a weapon. Mishandling of your gun such that it is lost or stolen should have a penalty, and multiple offenses should lead to losing your license to own them.
Anyone caught in possession of a gun that is not registered to them should be prosecuted, and the registered owner along with them since as stated they should be legally accountable for the weapons they possess.
The licensing process for ownership should include practical testing as well as mental health qualifications, and should be repeated periodically.
freedom? says
The commenters on here placing blame only on the NRA are very short-sighted. It would take volumes to explain to you that there is a black market in guns that is huge. Back door deals by gun manufacturers, and licensed gun dealers that sell to middlemen, etc. This can’t be contained because a huge amount of profit is involved. Too many people making money from guns, and firing off a metric ton of ammo at once is in the blood of too many in America. We live in a cesspool of guns, and even though there are a mountain of dead bodies, we say we are free. Well, there is a price to be paid for freedom, just ask any family member that has lost a loved one murdered by a gun.
Tim Scott says
The first step in resolving the problems is to remove the primary obstacle to taking any sort of action, and that obstacle is the NRA and their bought and paid for political power base. The best demonstration of where we stand is that a company took a small action against the NRA under public pressure, the NRA made a phone call, and a state government took immediate action against the company. We are talking about a company that is the number one employer in the state in question, investing billions of dollars and employing tens of thousands of people. That state government should be asking that company how they can work together, not attacking them on behalf of the NRA.
This is fun says
Dick’s Sporting Goods has joined in their way. When I wrote “This is fun”, little did I know how much fun.
I love watching the NRA bully squeal like pigs.
It’s all about gun SALES now, not the 2nd Amendment. The market is saturated already. What to do? What to do?
George says
I would bet a fair amount of those students protesting the guns can’t even name the three branches of Government. I guess they are standing up for their rights by trying to get rid of other’s rights. I am sure they are being funded by a whole bunch of gun control advocates that help out with speeches and talking points. Luckily the NRA is easy to remember and say. Some probably don’t even know what NRA stands for (the letters).
Follow the money on this one and you will most likely find the students had a bunch of financial help by some with an agenda far above the gun issue. Not satisfied until all the people of this country are disarmed and turned into a defenseless society against the criminal who will still have guns.
This is fun says
Prove it, George, that those students were funded by some with an agenda.
You are just spouting NRA talking points because you are unable and unwilling to think for yourself as those students are.
Those unarmed students have more courage than you will ever have. I’ll take that bet.

“Staring out into the audience, LaPierre told them “you should be anxious and you should be frightened” about the potential of another Democratic takeover of the House, Senate and White House.”
Well, it worked on our George. He’s afraid, very afraid. Not as much courage as those students going to D.C. on March 24.
The debate is over George thanks to you and those who think and speak like you. There’s no point. The vote is all that matters now and if it takes a couple of election circles to rid ourselves of politicians owned by the gun lobby, it will be worth it.
Now, George will tell us he’s not ‘a-feared’. Yeah, right. His guns can’t protect him from unarmed students speaking. LOL
George says
Well, there is at least one “proof” for you. I am sure those kids did not fund their way to DC on chartered buses on their allowance.
NRA talking points…..I don’t remember anyone from the NRA saying what I did. Of course I domn’t pay attention to the every move of the NRA like you apparently do.
Those unarmed students have more courage than I ever will have……how the heck would you ever prove that one way or the other?
How much courage does it take to ride to D.C. in a bus with a bunch of friends holding signs and yelling like the future activist some will become? Most of the videos show them laughing and having a great time. At least they can say in their future how they went and met the President. That was something momentous.
If they, or anyone else is going to go to D.C. and actually change anything of consequence, you are kidding yourself. All that will happen is some little feel good nonsense. You will still get to hang onto your gun, even though you will try to tell everyone how they are evil.
Make sure to hang out your unarmed residence sign on the front door.
Go back to your keyboard and make some bets you can actually engage in and either win or lose.
This is fun says
Like I said, George You don’t think for yourself.
How many days did it take for you to ‘think’ of a reply? Same old, same old talking points.
You will die having spent your paranoid life fussing and fuming about imaginary threats. You are more likely to fall in your house and break a hip. LOL at you.
Tim Scott says
You’d win. By all indications George is a gutless punk.
George says
Geeze Timmy…more hiding behind the keyboard courage. A gutless punk? What are you anyway…two or three years old? I bet all the kids stole your lunch at school, if you ever went to school. I am sorry you were on the wrong end of the punking all those years.
I am glad there is this forum you can send out your rage. Otherwise you might be grabbing your pool cleaning net and your rifle and shooting folks down at Walmart.
Typical liberalism. If you don’t 100% agree, start name calling and fragging them with insults. Such a big grown up boy.
Tim Scott says
Hiding behind the keyboard, George? That seems to be more your style. Anyone who wants to meet me knows how to do it…but of course you never have. Gutless.
George says
How do I meet you Tim? If it all so wonderful to flex up at everyone, what’s the address? What’s the name of the business? What’s your CDC number?
Tim Scott says
Drop me a line at timshatemail at gmx dot com and we’ll set something up. I’ll look forward to it. But, of course, you most likely already knew that.
George says
You know Tim….I guess I must be a gutless punk. I have no strength or fortitude to go up against someone as superior as you. Oh wait, think back….I already did and it didn’t work out so well for you. You will have to think back some years, if you have the ability to remember that far. I will now shrink away from you and hide in a corner.
You are the typical liberal as I said before. If you don’t like what is being said, you bully your way through trying to intimidate people out of free speech rights. It is a shame you are nothing more than like the students that bullied the school shooters into action instead of befriending them or helping them along in life. Spit on someone if they are different, then avoid all responsibility when it goes wrong.
Congrats Timmy….
George says
Geeze this is fun, getting Timmy all stirred up.
George says
Just another call out on Tims hate mail account. It is a cycle. Get mad, post name calling, get all pumped up, throw on a muscle shirt (sm) and send everyone your email address. Wow, I am impressed.
Tim Scott says
I see the cycle differently. It goes “get called a keyboard warrior by a gutless punk, offer to meet, gutless punk backs down.” Thanks for playing.
Tim Scott says
Just cleared all the spam and junk out of the inbox at the hatemail…wouldn’t want to miss anything just in case George wants to get out from behind his keyboard. But I expect he won’t. Gutless George isn’t gonna change now.
Timneedsattention says
Tim, curious as to why anyone would have to go to your email account?
If you are serious about meeting, why cant you just set it up here?
Unless there is a reason you cant or wont set it up on here?
All of us are waiting for your answer.
George says
Apparently Tim does not realize how childish this whole thread has become.
Tim, you are the obvious tough guy in the AV. I congratulate you once again on how you are a master at the school yard bullying and failed at becoming an adult.
Figure out where we met yet?
George says
It is somewhat interesting how many times you have felt compelled to put out your hate mail account when responding to others. Do a search of the net to see in case you forgot. It gets a bit old. Think of something else huh?
Uh oh, I didn’t disappear like you hoped.
Tim Scott says
I see no reason for George and I to sacrifice our anonymity with the entire world if he actually wanted to meet. That’s pretty obvious.
Then there is the obvious idiocy of:
“I don’t know who you are, but remember how we met before.” – Gutless George
Do you think anyone is believing that nonsense George?
This is fun says
The mental picture of Tim Scott and George is one of those cartoons that looks like this.
Tim Scott has his hand casually on top of George’s head while George is swinging madly with both fists and not landing a simgle blow.
Poor George workin’ up a sweat for nothing. Meanwhile, Tim Scott is drinking a cup of tea with his other hand. Too funny.
George says
Yup, poor George…..Big bad Tim. He must be your boyfriend…..working up a sweat for you.
This is fun says
Uh, Geoge is the one here locked in an embrace with Tim Scott and he can’t let go and walk away. Smitten, I’d say. Smitten he is.
Define smitten: deeply affected with or struck by strong feelings of attraction, affection, or infatuation.
George will deny it, of course. The rougher Tim Scott is, the more Geoge loves it.
Well, springtime is almost here.
Timneedsattention says
I’m sure you believe the “entire world”is following you, tim.
The real reason why you can’t set up a meet,on this forum is,because you will be exposed for what you really are.
And of course, get your ass beat.
Bullies don’t do well in a crowd.
Tim Scott says
Funny thing…I made that hatemail account just for George, way back in the day, though he used a different name then. I thought “wow, if this guy wants to beat my ass I’d feel like a coward ducking him,” so I gave him a way we could meet if he really wanted…and he has ducked me ever since. Not that I really thought it would really come down to some schoolyard fistfight, but I didn’t want to be the guy who ducked. Now someone else wants to talk about beating my ass…unless of course this new name is just another version of George…and they too won’t take advantage of the opportunity.
So, I sleep good at night. I can only hope they learn something when having to confront their own cowardice is keeping them awake.
Laughing says
Yup, like the gang run automatic rifle company that was taken down last year in the valley. The gang set up operations in a warehouse and was manufacturing actual assault rifles with full auto as I recall reading the articles about it.

I just cancelled deliveries from a company that uses FedEx since it won’t discontinue its discounts to NRA members.
Next, I’ll stop using Amazon for the same reason and any other company.
Everything in this country has come down to money as the only thing valued. As a customer, I have a say as will millions of others.
Gun sales have been down since Trump took office so the gun lobby is likely thrilled that any proposed legislation will spook gun lovers andl pump up sales again. It’s all about gun sales, after all. There are over 300 million guns in this country and if sales stopped altogether there would be enough already.
Then, the young people around the country have the solution……………….replace all elected officials owned by the gun lobby.
Dave says
@This is fun
It’s alright for you to cancel because for your one there are 100 NRA supports who will use them. To each his own!!
Tim Scott says
Actually, NRA membership is about 2% of the adult population. So, Dave, your math doesn’t work…or even come close.
Alexis says
@Dave…Most gun owners don’t belong to the NRA, and they don’t agree with it either.
This is fun says
@Dave
Has it gone right by you that some companies are severing their ties with the NRA and the young people in Parkland have scared the krap out of the NRA leaders, the poor things?
More to come. I know I’m just one person. And, so is every other person 1 person.
It was fun to see who would react to my comment.
Laughing says
“The NRA uses UPS and not FedEx,” for shipping from its online store, FedEx said in a statement to Business Insider.
So make sure you extend your boycott.
This is fun says
Actually, I checked with another company for a weekly delivery and they use On Track which I ‘ve never heard of. I am checking to see if they work with the NRA before I sign on with the company.
It’s funny how thousands of high school students have scared the NRA. All La Pierre’s guns can’t protect him from young people speaking out. Too funny. The NRA’s guns are useless when it comes to free speech and votes. High time.
The NRA has been writing or suppressing gun legislation for decades. If the gop tools are replaced, stricter legislation can happen and the Supremes can be the final judges as far as the 2nd Amendment which begins with “A well-regulated…..”
Laughing says
I will ask you the same question I ask others when they pop out the “Well regulated…”
Please define what you believe a well regulated militia is?
BTW, if anyone tries to guess which side of the fence I am on, the guess will be inaccurate.
This is fun says
@Laughing
How about whatever legislation that regulates gun ownership and use that is passed and signed by the President and passes constitutional tests?
You are asking a question that you will surely disagree with if I gave a specific answer stating a list of regulations. Wouldn’t you?
The gun debate is over.
Laughing says
“How about whatever legislation that regulates gun ownership and use that is passed and signed by the President and passes constitutional tests?”
That is what we currently have. That is why I ask the question.
Common answers I have received include… We already have a militia called the Reserves. People trained and registered. A system where people have to pay and be registered and trained.
Our personal debate may be over, but nationally and on a world scale it will be here for quite some time.
This is fun says
@Laughing
When I say “The gun debate is over.”, the students are leading the way. Replace any and all elected officials who take money from the NRA and the gun lobby, Republicans and Democrats and Independents.
That’s all. No need to debate with them any longer. They’ve strong-armed the government with money and it’s over.
Elect people who will do the job of “A well-regulated…” instead of fighting every single regulation.
If you’re paying attention, you’ll notice that debates with gun advocates go nowhere fast. It’s the votes that count. They’ve been bought for decades and that’s over.
Laughing says
@ThisIsFun
Ah, gotcha! Yup I am proud of the social movement of We The People at the moment. Always good to see sensible pressure being applied. As long as they remember that criminals do not care and will get their weapons from the black market. But hopefully it reduces the mass shootings.
Tim Scott says
Why boycott UPS just because the NRA pays them? Fed-Ex is being boycotted because they have a sponsorship agreement with the NRA where they give discounts to NRA members and the NRA in turn promotes Fed-Ex to their membership.
It is a pretty funny indictment of their character that they themselves don’t use the company they promote to their members though.
Really says
Why boycott anybody? The NRA consists of American citizens who have “unionized” for the common cause of protecting their 2nd amendment rights. The only reason they get discounts at these places is because the have a huge membership group. Huge membership equals group pricing. If people want to amend the 2nd amendment they should try to do so. I believe they would need 2/3 majority in house/senate and ratification by 3/4 of the state legislatures. U get that then we can talk
Tim Scott says
For the same reasons the NRA members “unionized.” They have five million fanatics that threaten boycotts, buy politicians, etc. Those who are tired of the gun lobby owning and operating the government through the Republican party are now fighting back using the same tools, so companies that are entangled with the NRA are pulling out. Because five million is actually NOT a “huge membership group.”
Fed-Ex hasn’t bailed…yet…but they probably will.
Laughing says
Also a very true statement, and pretty much what FedEx states.
Slowly, very slowly, the states are creeping towards those majorities. The pendulum will swing the other way, Trump is proof of that, then it will swing back, on and on.
no discounts says
I am a member of AARP, and I receive discounts. I am a member of AAA, and I receive discounts. I am not a member of NRA, so I don’t receive discounts. My choice to keep it simple, and keep my conscience clear.
Laughing says
Here we go, some latest news that reveals a truth at FedEx https://secondnexus.com/news/fedex-secret-deal-nra/
Laughing says
Simple answer, they are accepting money that has been received by NRA from members that pay the NRA to belong. It would be hypocritical to use the services of one company that takes money, but not use the services of another company that takes the same money.
Tim Scott says
Fed-Ex isn’t “taking money” from the NRA. They have an endorsement agreement, where the NRA promotes them and they provide a benefit to NRA members. That’s not the same as having the NRA as a customer. I don’t think anyone expects a company to turn down customers, but there are consequences to the choices they make for promotional agreements.
That’s why numerous companies are ending such agreements with the NRA, and Fed-Ex probably will soon enough.
Laughing says
Tim, discounts for customers sometimes are paid in part by the sponsoring company. If it is purely a two sided ‘you endorse us and we will endorse you’ it is still money being paid by NRA members.
You may be correct that FedEx will pull endorsement, you were also correct about the math earlier. It is not much of a dent when you consider the number of businesses that use FedEx to ship legal documents. They can ignore the boycott for quite some time and negative press can be turned positive through the opposition.
Tim Scott says
Sometimes that’s how they balance things out. Hard to guess at the details of the deal between Fed-Ex and the NRA, but all I’ve heard about was endorsement exchange for discount. The NRA seems a bit too full of their own self-importance to pay a company to give discounts to their members.
Alexis says
Ups does not offer special discounts to NRA members, nor does it endorse NRA. You might as well boycott USPS as well, because NRA uses them too.
Laughing says
Very true.

We Russians had an easy time posing as Americans supporting Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein, what with their simple-minded views.

How did that work out for you Natasha……

Outstanding letter.
Hofbauer should resign from Palmdale council
It’s time for Palmdale Councilman Steve Hofbauer, to resign his council position. His unprofessional disregard to protect the civil rights, as well as the constitutional safeguards, (shows) he is no longer fit to serve the citizens of Palmdale or the United States of America.
You have failed all of the duties we entrusted you with. Your immediate resignation is, respectfully requested.
B.L.T. says
Instead of resigning, Hofbauer should just move to Lancaster and join that merry band of misfits. He fits in well. He and Marv can hang out, have a few donuts, tell old fire department stories, yuk it up, and make Rex proud.
Just Saying says
Wait, I thought Hofbauer was a plant from the Fern St Mafia, or is that supposed to be a secret?
Tim Scott says
Well, it is supposed to be. But since it isn’t Hofbauer probably should just pack it in and retire to Lancaster. Unfortunately there’s no practical way to rid ourselves of him until 2020.
Tom says
We could recall him. But that would be costly. Save the money and go at him in 2020. Who knows what garbage he will spew between now and then. As it is, he has alienate the Hispanics, African Americans, and any Anglo with a conscience.
Don’t Tread on Me says
We are stuck with the Palmdale majority of Hofbauer, Carrillo and Bishop for now and they are pro Lancaster to boot. We need a Far East candidate for the upcoming election to get a voice that can stand on their own to break up the majority that looks obvious in the decision making that they are talking and making deals out of the sight of public input. Lancaster is in charge and it’s positivly clear!
Tim Scott says
I’m hesitant to support an “oust Carrillo” move. But maybe you are seeing something that I’m not. Could you elaborate on this “looks obvious”?
The reason I’m hesitant is that Wrecks and crew have a history of running “stand up to the cronies” candidate who actually turns out to be deep in their pocket. And not that I don’t trust you, but we’ve already seen Hofbauer’s little social media crew accuse Bettancourt in an effort to muddy the waters.
Nicole says
Carrillo has been a Rex puppet so far. Very sad to see. He is in with Hofbauer and Bishop. Bad for Palmdale.
Tim Scott says
Other than the recent representation on the high desert corridor panel vote can anyone point out a Carrillo vote they think was pro-Lancaster questionable? I say other than that one because I already plan to ask him about that one at the first opportunity.
Nicole says
Carrillo supports the disastrous electric plan with Lancaster. It will just line Lancaster’s pockets. Not a smart move. Lancaster’s group is too small,
Alexis says
@Nicole…I don’t understand why you think Mr. Juan Carrillo is also a puppet.
Disappointed Dem. says
Whenever the Republicans from Lancaster want to have their way in Palmdale, Carrillo has been the third vote. He is a puppet or a coward “take your pick” but what is known he is not for Palmdale. The energy vote showed me all I needed to know that he is not for the residents of Palmdale.
Alexis says
Well, you can’t please everyone all the time. Mr Carrillo received more than half the votes in his district, and I respect that. You as an individual, and those that have the same mindset can vote in the next election, and the outcome will be decided by the people.
Disappointed Dem says
Another Far East Candidate for Palmdale City Counsel is what is needed to allow Juan Carrillo to defend his Lancaster support votes. He obviously is more concerned about Lancaster than his own residents and that has got to change. He has shown he is not aware that the East side is paying attention to what he does. He gives lip service but no results to his district and that shows he is not around to understand our issues.
Tim Scott says
I dunno. He met me when I asked him to and we discussed a lot of issues related to the east side. He certainly seemed concerned, and had a pretty solid understanding of what people want…and frankly a somewhat similar naivety about how some of those things should be happening instantly as if by magic. I don’t think he has broadly failed to push towards having those things happen.
I do want to know what prompted him to vote for the study of the Lancaster power deal while voting against the study of the county power deal. We are going to come up against “well, we have hard numbers on this deal and the other proposal we only have speculation,” which is a stupid position to have gotten into. But that doesn’t guarantee that the Lancaster deal will be taken either, and the thing to do is for everyone to press on their council rep to explore both options before making any decision, particularly a decision involving Lancaster. Pressing Hofbauer and Bishop is, fortunately, not my place, since I don’t think either of them can be moved and I KNOW that neither of them will meet with me.
Which brings us back to the main concern…if Carrillo is NOT fully playing ball with Wrecks than a “I’m a disappointed Dem and we need to replace Carrillo” is exactly the kind of thing I’d expect from Wrecks and Co. Get a bunch of dems on the ballot to split up the opposition while shoving a Wrecks puppet through on a plurality.
Tom says
Carrillo blew it on the power plant. Going with Lancaster is not good for the residents of Palmdale. It’s good for Rex and the boys, but that’s where it ends. I hope he does some homework on how Lancaster has screwed over Palmdale time and time again.
Dem Voter says
@Tim Scott, I’m with you on being cautious to oust Carrillo. He has made some bad decisions for Palmdale. He needs to stop having meetings at Bex with Rex and the gang. Oh wait. Bex is gone. He just needs to stop getting marching orders from Lancaster and do what’s best for the people in Palmdale.
Tim Scott says
Well, the group meetings were orchestrated by Hofbauer, using ‘you’re new but this is what we do’ logic. Those ended when “no, that isn’t what we do and in fact it’s illegal’ logic turned things around. The legal limit is two, and that’s no doubt Hofbauer and Bishop. If Carrillo was still going on his own that’s news to me, but it sure isn’t like I hung out at Bex so I can’t say for sure either way.
Alexis says
Good morning Vic. I am answering your comment about solar farms. In 2011, Governor Jerry Brown signed into law a requirement that California (including entire state), get 33% of its electricity from renewable sources, such as wind and solar energy by the year 2020. He is also working on 100% by 2030. So you see, both a Governor that is a Democrat is in agreement with Republicans on this issue.
Alexis says
Here is something else to consider, Vic. Electrical transformers that have done major damage to the environment, including leaking dangerous toxic substances into water wells. Most of us depend on electricity, Vic, including you. We all have a part in damaging this beautiful earth.
Just Saying says
But Edison uses the same transformers for distribution of conventional power. Maybe you’re thinking of gas powered power plants leaking dangerous toxic substances into water wells.
Laughing says
When transformers fail they do indeed leak some fairly yucky stuff. Has zero to do with what generated the power in the first place. I think her point was, no matter how it is generated we all are a bit guilty in messing up Earth since we all use power.
Al says
Natural gas leaks into water wells? Not even William Schlesinger is saying that. The crazy You Tube videos where the water is on fire supposedly from fracking are hoaxes.
As we are seeing from the destruction of our desert from those massive, ugly, Valley Fever and dirt pollution causing solar farms, there is no form of energy production that doesn’t have some sort of impact. Natural gas is one of the best.
Just Saying says
Your car runs on gasoline, but there is still a lot of hot sloshing oil going on there. Factor in a couple refineries and there is the real mess.
The westside panel problem is TOO many panels, not the panels themselves. If those panels were on the Eastside the prevailing wind would blow the dust out to the desert. Also, it was found that there is no need to grade the ground for solar, leave the ground as is and just dig post holes. Should greatly improve the valley fever problem once the already graded sites settle down.
Gas plants used to be the cheapest power source, but wind and solar have become the new bargain. Building, operating, and maintaining over the life of the facility has driven interest away for higher profits with low maintenance.
Al says
Wind and solar are not bargains. Nor do they produce the amount of electricity needed. Besides, they are heavily subsidized, like the AVTA busses. Solar and wind farms and require enormous footprints, too. Rooftop solar will eventually become cost effective for almost everyone.
Rather than destroy the desert and exposing everyone to deadly Valley Fever, the focus should be on gas, hydroelectric, and rooftop solar.
Laughing says
@Just Saying,
The support poles are pounded in, not dug. Makes a ringing noise as they pound them in with a little pile driver tractor. Very little disturbance indeed, if they stopped grading.
Laughing says
@AI is correct about wind power. Most people miss the grading, the mountains of concrete for footers, all the plastics used for blades, the miles of heavy transmission lines buried in trenches along those access roads, the fairly constant break downs, locking for heavy winds, all of the heavy lift vehicles and transport vehicles to install and maintain the windmills. Wind farms are a mess.
Alexis says
@Al…For every pro there is an equal amount of cons for natural gas. The chemicals they use to extract leach into wells. As far as the destruction of this beautiful desert, we all play a part. If we live in a house or apartment, and use the tremendous amount of energy it takes to stay in our comfort zone, then we play a part in this destruction. Two story houses, one right next to each other that a person can see, that takes over more and more of this desert is a part of the negative change to accommodate humans.
Al says
You are right Alexis. Every form of producing energy has an impact. My research has led me to the conclusion that rooftop solar, natural gas, and hydroelectric are the best options overall.
People are free to disagree. If a person disagrees and does not have to live with the ramifications of what these solar farms are doing to our area, then I have nothing else to say to them.
The reality is that renewables alone cannot supply the amount of energy needed to sustain society. A combination of energy efficiency and new technologies will help in time.
Vic says
You are correct, Alexis. The governor did sign a law. No where in that law does it mandate that communities like Antelope Acres he destroyed so that Mayor Parrish his supporters, and friends can profit to the detriment of the public.
Rooftop solar would go a long way to achieving this goal. So would building solar farms in less populated areas where people have not invested their lives for a rural lifestyle.
This is not a Democratic or Republican issue. It is a greed issue, and no one tops Mayor Parris. No one.

Another outstanding letter in the paper today. Outstanding. It calls out Lancaster as being totally untrustworthy and a bad steward. Outstanding.
Lancaster has screwed Quartz Hill, Antelope Acres, and Palmdale, yet Hofbauer and Bishop walk in lockstep with Rex, Marv, and the rest of them. Wake up Palmdale.
The letter. Outstanding.
Doesn’t trust city officials in west Valley
Re: “Protect AV poppy fields.” Here are my thoughts in response to the article.
I do not trust the city of Lancaster. I think it would be a huge mistake to encourage the city to acquire land any farther west than it already has. The city has proven itself to be careless with the safety and wishes of the residents of the west Valley.
The city of Lancaster has demonstrated itself to be a bad steward of its current properties in the west Valley and to encourage it to move farther west could prove disastrous. The city has marched west through Quartz Hill into Antelope Acres and all it has done is create traffic, excessive wear and tear on the roads, destruction of habitat and nuisance dust, to name a few things.
What it has not done is be a good neighbor. The city has not provided the residents adjacent to these properties any type of mitigation nor any city services.
I would rather take my chances on anyone else before encouraging the city of Lancaster to purchase land near the Poppy Reserve.

Isn’t it interesting how Councilman Christ would like us to believe he is concerned about poppies. He is a big part of what is wrong. He has supported the destruction of West AV witness his lack of consent for Quartz Hill over “ “Walmart” by turning a blind eye to issues raised by the residence. He is also the big supporter of the solar fields approved by Lancaster Council basically giving Antelope Acres the middle finger, still does. What takes the cake is his buddy is promoting a new gas station at 20th West and Ave L. The joke is it’s location in White Fence Farm and it will get approved over the objections of the residents that cannot vote against him in the upcoming election. A tactic he good at is picking on those that cannot hold him accountable in his re-election. This guy is a bully and coward rolled into one. Those that can should show him the door in the upcoming Lancaster elections.
Alexis says
Governor Jerry Brown is also a big supporter of solar fields, all over California. In fact he passed a law.
Vic says
Governor Jerry Brown doesn’t pass laws. He signs bills into law. He never passed or signed a law that said that the west Antelope Valley, and Antelope Acres specifically, had to be decimated by solar farms and ruin the chosen lifestyles of its residents. This is the work of Rex, Marv, the city of Lancaster, and all the leeches who are making money off of it.
Spare me the ‘saving the earth’ garbage. Solar on rooftop will achieve the same results with a fraction of the environmental impact. If solar farms are necessary for the state to achieve the mandated renewable energy mandates, they could be built away from Antelope Acres or other rural communities. A drive along the 10, 40, 14, and 395 freeways will show you that.
Alexis says
Dear Vic: Either way, Vic, the bill he signed into law includes all of California, including Antelope Acres. You might as well call your Governor a leech, too. He promotes solar farms as well. You might not like it, but I see both Republicans and Democrats are in agreement on this particular issue.

Ladies and gentlemen, these are trying times. Common sense, a sorely lacking trait, is needed now more than ever.
Really says
We have a problem. I just watched a video from the high school in Florida. It struck me as odd that so many students first inclination was to record dead people. Wasn’t Logan Paul just villified for doing the same? Why do kids in the midst of a tragedy feel the need to film/stream their dead classmates? I feel its all part of the same problem. There is definitely something wrong with out values and society when people kill so many. I also feel we have a problem when people’s first inclination is to video the carnage. Gun control is the easy solution that always gets brought up first. However i believe it is sweden that has a large amount of gun owners and few if any school shootings. I believe the answers to so many problems lie in mental health issues not guns. I find it odd that both political parties do nothing. Why not try locking down schools as if they were the white house or any other high security building? If that happens and shootings continue I might be swayed to the ar-15 being the problem. We have high security to get on a plane but not where our precious children spend the bulk of their time.

There were a few articles out yesterday discussing the trend of oversharing and normalization of violent acts. It is a combination of things coming together. Even includes wanting to have footage for the news if they get asked, and helping out authorities when they ask if anybody has footage.
You are correct, it is a mental health/decision making issue. Widespread too, on many different subjects.

It’s likely that members of Congress owned by the gun lobby will make the kind of threatening noises to cause gun sales to improve while not actually doing anything.

Any comment about Rex Parris, cash cows, or Lancaster, and any perceived criminal doings has nothing to do with the facts of this particular subject of their strong friendship. Immature commenters that use the word (wrecks), and convolute truth.

I don’t care if Visco paid for the statue himself. It’s the least he could do with all the money he’s gotten from his pals and bid contracts from Fern Street? A $10 million dollar contract for an airplane to fly around that does nothing to lower crime? Who was the beneficiary of the first pot grow permit issued by Lancaster? What about all the properties that somehow get rented to government agencies?
Has anyone ever wondered why there is little rhyme or reason as to where new development goes in Lancaster? Follow the money and follow the property. Almost all roads lead back to the Parris-Visco-Gilley triune.

Once again you are making this about the boys in Lancaster and what they are up to. As far as Frank Visco and the 150 friends that got together to fund Larry Chimbole’s statue, well, they did it out of love and it doesn’t matter how much money Frank Visco had at the time. There is AA, NA, and now there is HA (haters anonymous). People that can sling their hateful comments anonymously. By the way (Real Truth), their very long friendship had nothing to do with Lancaster. Larry Chimbole was a Democrat and Visco is a Republican, so what on that too!
Tim Scott says
What does it take to get through to you? Nobody is saying that Chimbole and Visco weren’t friends. Nobody is saying that being friends with Visco reflects badly on Chimbole. All that is being said is that just being a friend of Chimbole doesn’t change the fact that Visco is part of the crony crew that has ruined Lancaster and is now trying to get their hooks into Palmdale.
Why is that so hard for you to follow? Or are you just intentionally trying to muddy the waters with a big “argument” about Chimbole despite there being nothing to argue about?
truth says
What does it take to get through to you that What Visco and his crony crew did, does, or will do, has nothing to do with all the many years of friendship these two shared, and nothing to with Lancaster, Rex Parris, or your argumentative comments. You are the one along with the other haters, that have extended the original comment into a very long drawn out argument.
Tim Scott says
So, we agree that Visco being a crony of Wrecks has nothing to do with Chimbole, yet you, “Truth” continue to try to say I’m wrong. What exactly are you hoping to accomplish? Or did Hofbauer not explain the objective?

Read the original comment, then try to understand that you are beating a dead horse. The original comment has NOTHING to do with Lancaster, Rex, or any relationship Visco has with Rex. It is a different subject that you or the others can’t seem to comprehend. Making this simple for you and you still can’t comprehend; these are different subjects that you can’t separate. What would you do, Tim if you couldn’t take a simple comment and twist that comment into something completely different? I bet your family, if you have one, is absolutely joyful when you’re arguing here, rather than making their lives miserable with you crappy attitude.

He knew that Rex has been Visco’s partner along with Jim Gilly as they all are now rich although they certainly didn’t start off that way. Removing mayor from boards is nonsense
Councilman Steve Hofbauer wanted, and got, the ouster of Mayor Jim Ledford from two transportation boards. Ledford has served for decades on these boards with great success. So why all the hub-bub all of a sudden? When asked, Hofbauer responded: “Let me get down to it. Part of the problem I’m having right now is that every single meeting I go to I get hammered over the issues that are going on with the (district attorney) and with yourself.”
I hope Hofbauer continues to get hammered. To bring this up just because of pending litigation is nonsense.
Ledford has served these boards since the very beginning, decades, and has nothing but positive results and great workings with others involved. Ledford then questioned Hofbauer’s dedication to projects and stated he was opposed to Measure M in 2016, the half-cent tax measure. Councilwoman Laura Bettencourt broke in and said, “You’ve got to convince me that there’s some fault in what is being done at this point in order for me to remove somebody from a position that has so far been successful.” Finally, a well-thinking person. Then Ledford responded, “I don’t know how you could barge your way in and expect to foster something that’s already working.”
It was at this point that Hofbauer brought up the pending criminal case. Why? Because he has nothing else. Toward the end of the article, Ledford charged again, “Mr. Hofbauer, you’ve been to maybe four meetings of NCTC in 20 years and that now qualifies you to head the organization?”
Very well put on Ledford’s part.
However, the board removed Ledford from the two transportation boards. It makes me wonder about the ethics of this board. I see Bettencourt as the only sensible voice there. So, Ledford is gone because of pending court matters that are at least two months away. And could they be even farther away with the courts are back logged?
Time will tell on that one. I saw these changes as completely unnecessary. It seemed to me that Hofbauer had a chance to grandstand and grabbed it. I now put Hofbauer in the same category as Rex Parris.

Frank Visco and Larry Chimbole had a wonderful longstanding friendship that spanned decades, and has nothing to do with Rex Parris. That is the truth and you can’t change that by posting an untruth.
Tim Scott says
It is entirely possible to be friends without being partners in crime.
If Chimbole had been willing to go along with the scheme the boys would probably never have incorporated Lancaster as their cash cow and would have just annexed it into a Palmdale cash cow. But Chimbole had a vision for a city he would live in, not just a corrupt milking of funds so he could live somewhere else.
Real Truth says
Tim hit the nail on the head. Chimbole was a diplomat and knew the difference between being cordial and friendly, and getting in bed with the schemes of Visco, Parris, and Gilley. Chimbole was a smart man who protected Palmdale from being used by them. Ledford and others continue as best as they can to keep Lancaster in Lancaster and let Palmdale decide its future. Now that Rex has infiltrated Palmdale with Hofbauer and Bishop, it is time to take a stand for Chimbole and what he helped build.
truth says
My original comment was about a deep friendship between Frank Visco and Larry Chimbole, and that Frank was a big contributor to the Chimbole Cultural Center and that beautiful bench. Both of you turned this into something else entirely by posting a negative comment about the boys that had nothing to do with their friendship or the dealing with Lancaster many years ago or now. Talk about twisting a comment, but that’s what you and Tim Scott do all the time. Where is all this proof, Tim, or do you just like posting negative opinions about everyone? No crime in their friendship and Chimbole didn’t see it that way either. So twist away.

Not to rain on the parade of Hofbauer supporters passing through, but could you provide some examples of what he “does in district 2”? I mean, he’s been a part of city government in Palmdale for a long time, and the city has certainly been well governed, but what has he specifically contributed to that?
Near as I can make out he’s mostly just gone along, and then taken credit for how well things have turned out in his runs as an incumbent. I’ve never really gotten specific in asking the city staff for examples where Hofbauer has “led the way,” but it’s a certainty that none of them has gone out of their way to credit him for anything in particular when they were talking to me. I get the impression that he has the same autocratic mindset as Wrecks, and treats the staff like they are supposed to be working for him…which they don’t.

Meet Steve Hofbauer and you will be privileged to hear about what a great contribution he claims that he has made. Innocently ask whether we would be better off if we just got along better with Lancaster and you can usually get him to share his vision of “going along to get along” and remaking Palmdale in Lancaster’s image, with himself installed as Wrecks lite.
Meet Austin Bishop and there’s no way to have a conversation without coming away thinking “stooge.” Catch him with a question that Hofbauer and Wrecks haven’t prepped him for and he has no answer. The rest of the conversation you may as well be talking to a parrot.

66.85% voter turnout in Palmdale, Tim Scott! A great turnout, and we’re happy with the results. Stay where you are and keep complaining, sour pants.

Voter turnout was good…but how many of those voters had any idea who they were voting for in the local races? It is unfortunate that to a great extent “he who has the most name recognition” wins…and name recognition can be bought with money fronted by Wrecks and his crew.
As I’ve said, anyone other than his direct associates who see benefits from his position who has met Hofbauer wouldn’t vote for him. Unfortunately a whole lot of people in his district don’t know anything about him other than “I know that name, he’s the incumbent.”
Tim Scott says
I’m happy with the results. Hofbauer and Bishop are a powerless minority on the council so can’t hand over the treasury to Wrecks and his crew. But that doesn’t mean anyone should get complacent, or ignore the reality that we are one seat short of selling out the city.
Vic says
I’ll be dollars to donuts that no one knew that Roxana Martinez’s opponent Aldolfo Estrada Duran was an employee of R. Rex Parris and that Bishop made signs for his campaign. Oh, don’t worry. The dirty deeds of Hofbauer, et al, will be memorialized in fliers. The Wrecks crew might eventually win, and destroy Palmdale by remaking it in Lancaster’s image, but you’ll have a fight on your hands to do it.
There is nothing twisted about Vic’s ‘perspective.’ To get his stooge Bishop onto the council, Wrecks funded one of his employees into a campaign to split the opposition vote. That isn’t ‘perspective,’ that’s just what happened, and every voter in Palmdale needs to be aware that that is the kind of thing we are up against.
JPB says
Stay Positive, you should change your name to Stay Clueless. Keep off of the Voice and you will be able to see clearly. Maybe.
Facts says
Don’t pay any attention to these buffoons. None of the commenters on here that try to malign the elected officials, do anything positive for Palmdale. Now you have another one chiming in about something called the Voice that has nothing to do with anything. All of them sitting at their computer are now trying to start a war of their own making! Yes, they are nothing but a cackling hen party that will never bring hard evidence to the table. Tim, Vic, and a few others that I believe are working for Rex to tear Palmdale apart with unsubstantiated claims. There is more gossip for you.
Tim Scott says
LOL…so you “believe” that I am “working for Rex”? Is that a fact, Facts?
Here’s a hint for you…the reason Hofbauer is so concerned about the accusations that he is a stooge for Wrecks is because there are all sorts of indications that he is, so having attention called to the possibility is a problem for him. It’s called plausibility. There’s more than enough smoke to make the fire likely.
When you come in slinging wild accusations about me you need to make them plausible if you want to convince anyone of anything. Too many people have met me, too many people at city hall know who I am, and too many people have seen me go after Wrecks and his crew tirelessly for years; so the “hur de dur, I don’t but you do” game just makes you look silly.
By the way, are you one of those clowns that runs that Facebook group for Hofbauer?
Savior? says
You’re not going to do anything, Scott. You talk too much to do anything. You were single handedly going to save Palmdale from the evil that permeates this fine city, two years ago. You actually had people thanking you for being their savior. You are the one that is dangerous, Tim Scott.
Former Lancaster says
When you have Lancaster planning commissioner Drew Mercy supporting your campaign, that is all you need to know about Lancaster’s influence. He’s a Rex stoolie and has the support of Marv, Randy Hall, Hoffbauer, and Bishop.
If the people of Palmdale want to be controlled by these folks, they deserve everything they get. Or don’t get.
So glad I left that s-hole Lancaster.
Tim Scott says
Doing my best…for those who don’t know, while I didn’t claim to be a “savior,” I did come up with a proposal that would protect the city from Lancaster looting us through revenue “sharing” deals that a council of Wrecks stooges could put into effect should the Wrecks crew successfully pick up two more votes to go along with Bishop and Hofbauer.
The protective resolution has been submitted for analysis by the proper legal experts to make sure that it doesn’t leave any back doors for Hofbauer et al to weasel through. I would expect the analysis to wrap up and a final wording for the proposal to land in front of the council in the reasonably near future.
Since it will stop Wrecks and Co in their tracks you can bet your bottom dollar that Hofbauer and Bishop will oppose it tooth and nail, which will clearly reveal them for the stooges that they are.
Facts says
Doing your best to undermine the voters of Palmdale, Tim Scott. Can’t wait to see this proposal that you won’t bring to the attention of the people that have spoken. You’re a snake with a forked tongue. You are a little man that boasts and never comes through with substance.
Tim Scott says
Well, if you really “can’t wait” you should pay more attention. I posted it on here…twice I think…before I submitted it through multiple council members. I even tried to talk to Hofbauer about it, which is how I know he is a Lancaster stooge.
But since you apparently missed it before, here is the synopsis:
In 1998 Article XIII, section 29 of the constitution of the state of California was amended to allow cities and counties to enter into revenue sharing agreements without putting such agreements to a vote of the people. Instead such agreements can be entered into as long as they are approved by two thirds majorities “of the governing bodies.” In our case, that would mean a two thirds majority of the city council. The constitution continues to allow for such agreements to be entered if they are supported by a majority vote of the citizens.
The constitution allows this alternative path for enacting revenue sharing ordinances, but does not inhibit the city from enacting an ordinance restraining the council, and future councils, from using this alternative path. A local ordinance requiring Palmdale to enter into such agreements ONLY if they are approved by ballot under the specifications of article XIII, section 29(a) and preventing use of the alternative in section 29(b) would not violate the article in any way.
The city of Lancaster has proposed such revenue sharing agreements be made between itself and the city of Palmdale in the past, and undoubtedly will make such proposals in the future. There are people in Palmdale who at times have questioned whether certain council members felt greater responsibility to their ties to Lancaster than they feel towards the citizens that they actually represent. At those times the citizens of Palmdale become concerned about the government of Lancaster and their desire for these revenue sharing agreements and the reliability of our own city council.
I understand that the current council may have reservations about denying themselves and their successors an authority that the state government has granted to them. It should be noted that the amendment granting local governing bodies this power was proposed by Lancaster’s representative to the state government, in the wake of just such a deal being rejected by Palmdale because it was seen to be very one sided.
In the wake of that deal falling apart there was a major shakeup in the Palmdale council. When Lancaster pushed through the amendment to the state constitution allowing such agreements to be approved without a vote of the people there was a sense in Palmdale that council members who had wanted a bad deal put to the people for a vote could not be trusted with their new power to approve such a deal themselves.
Such a local ordinance, if it included language requiring that it only be repealed through a ballot process, would eliminate any concerns that a future council might enter into such a poor agreement under unknown pressures from outside the city. Such an ordinance would not be denying a necessary authority from future councils, it would be protecting the future of our city from a hostile neighbor, and it would reduce the incentives that have driven that neighbor to attempt to meddle in our elections.
Facts says
Just to let all those who don’t know, Tim Scott told anyone on here willing to believe his whopper lies two years ago that he had a proposal drafted with his legal experts to save the voters from themselves because they don’t know what they are doing when they vote. I never see him at any meetings, nor do I see him volunteering his time as a retired person, giving back to the city of Palmdale for all that he should be thankful for.
Facts says
Sorry, Tim, that isn’t going to fly. It just isn’t. The voters have spoken, Tim, and all your blustering doesn’t matter. You are never at any of the meetings as I said before, and there are thousands of us that like what Steven Hofbauer is doing in our district. So go ahead and draft all your nonsensical proposals because what the people have to say overrides your lack of understanding in this matter. Your paranoia and misinformation is stunning. You are not even coming from a place of truth. Gossip is not truth.
Facts says
We like what’s going on in our district, Tim. So you can post all your nonsense that isn’t based in truth. Never saw this, Tim, and neither did anyone else. posting on the comments section is a farce, but I’m sure some will actually believe that what you post has to be fact based. Many of us know this was never presented. You never talked to Hofbauer or never attended meetings, and you know it. The people in this district matter, not you.
William says
Thank you Tim Scott, Vic, and everyone else who is helping to expose what is really happening. The Fern Street Mafia is hoping people will sleep through the next election so the fools will sell out their constituents. Tax sharing was Marv’s Hot topic at the last sheriff’s booster meeting. What Brown Act? Lancaster Choice Energy is another subject of discussion.
The confederate flag crowd is loving every bit of it. Fools.
Facts says
The only thing that is being exposed are the constant baseless accusations against an elected official voted in for a fourth term, by the power of the people that voted. Power to the people, not the few gossipmongers with zero facts. The people voted for Steven Hofbauer, not once, not twice, not three times, but four, count them, four times. Keep up the great work! for the thousands of people that voted for Steven Hofbauer. Great things happening in District 2! Rise above the destructive gossip.
Tim Scott says
Hofbauer brushed this off with a “I voted against the revenue sharing.” He MIGHT have been just too stupid to understand that what I was talking about was a limitation on FUTURE revenue sharing, but I don’t believe he is stupid. Alternately, he may have just been hoping the idea would go away.
There’s an interesting question about the last revenue sharing proposal; specifically, why was it ever presented? It was absurd, and everyone knew it at a glance. There was absolutely no reason why Palmdale would ever enter into such a ridiculous giveaway deal with Lancaster. So what was the point?
Here’s a possible answer: it was proposed specifically so that the stooges on the Palmdale council could vote against it. That way they would have an answer to leap to, ie “I voted against that,” any time they were questioned about their stance on revenue sharing with Lancaster. After all, there’s no point tipping their hand before Wrecks has bought and paid for four votes.
So, “Facts,” how about you ask Mr Hofbauer about that? Or we can just wait and see what happens when this turns up in a council meeting. I don’t need to show up and confront Hofbauer and Bishop there, because I can submit things through my own district’s council member.
Here’s the interesting part: where it says “it would reduce the incentives that have driven that neighbor to attempt to meddle in our elections,” that’s just a bald truth. Blocking access to revenue sharing would remove the biggest thing Wrecks sees as something he could steal from Palmdale. Now, our current council sees that in one of two ways. Either that is a huge benefit, because they know Wrecks is going to fund one of his stooges to run against them, or, they are worried that Wrecks would lose interest in paying them, because they are one of his stooges.
Another interesting thing you might ask Mr Hofbauer, “Facts,” is why he falls so clearly in the “worried” category rather than seeing this as a benefit not only to Palmdale, but to him personally.
District 2 voter says
Like Hofbauer is doing to the Mayor when nobody is watching. He is a self promoter at its worst.
Tim Scott says
Well, Wrecks might be worse. But probably only because Hofbauer hasn’t been able to get as much of a power base under himself yet.

Rex Parris is just following the GOP model, which is turning the nation businesses and wealth to the Chinese and Russian handlers….
Tim Scott says
Latest in Republican policies: Scott Walker, governor of Wisconsin, appointed some state assembly members to offices in his administration, which requires him to have special elections held in those districts to replace them. The first one was held recently in a state senate district where Republicans have held a very safe gerrymandered margin for decades, and the seat swung to the Democrats. So now Walker is saying the state can “save money” by not holding any special elections as required by the state constitution.
TL,DR…Republicans now want to just not have elections any more unless they can win them.

… our Lancaster mayor, mindlessly regressing our major boulevards back to the dark ages, into one lane, it’s become impossible speeding emergency vehicles, down 15th Street West, much less Lancaster Boulevard. Impossible to police, downtown Lancaster is a mess. No way first responders are ever going to maneuver their hook and ladder teams, and big fire engines, into downtown Lancaster. The world according to Mark Bozigian, but for no viable reason than bad policy for the sake of esthetics, people must needlessly die.
Anon says
Lancaster’s leaders don’t care about the ill effects of Valley Fever caused by the influx of solar fields in the West Valley. Lancaster annexes property near Antelope Acres, rezones it for solar farms, and the destruction of the desert continues. People and animals are affected by Valley Fever.
Rex, sipping coffee from his ocean view patio in Laguna, can care less.
Alexis says
It isn’t just Lancaster leaders, Anon. Governor Jerry Brown signed into law a requirement that California get 50% of its electricity from renewable sources such as wind and solar energy.
Anon says
There is no law requiring that the West Valley be dug up, destroyed, and expose people to Valley Fever. These solar farms are going in next to schools, and in a community that is rural. People moved there expressly to live a rural lifestyle.
Lancaster’s leaders, motivated by greed, have given the residents and animals of Antelope Acres the middle finger. There are millions of acres in California where these solar farms could be constructed without destroying a rural lifestyle or exposing people to Valley Fever.
Rex doesn’t care. The view from Laguna is spectacular.
Alexis says
Write your complaint to Governor Jerry Brown, Anon. He’s the one that signed this into law, and this law applies to all of California.
Alexis says
Yes, there is a law, Anon. Signed by Governor Jerry Brown for all of California.
Anon says
Sorry, Alexis, but you are incorrect. There is no law mandating that Antelope Acres be destroyed by the city of Lancaster. There is plenty of available land in the Antelope Valley and beyond that is not part of Antelope Acres. This is a money motivated move by Rex and his good old boy network. Just like with the marijuana grow that was granted for Visco’s property.
Solar farms are springing up all along Highway 14, away from where people live, away from schools.
You must be new to the area. Welcome to the land of Nepotism and Corruption.
Alexis says
I’m not here to argue with you, Anon. The information is easy to find so you can be educated on this subject. I am not new to the area, Anon. Been living in this area for a long time, and I did not vote for Parris. Only 11.2% of the people of Lancaster voted, so apparently most people just don’t care whether Parris is mayor. Yes, Anon, there is a law that Jerry Brown signed for renewable energy ( solar and wind), and yes it does include all of California.
Alexis says
Governor Jerry Brown signed into law a requirement that California get 50% of its electricity from renewable sources such as wind and solar energy.

RIP Bex. Another BLVD business bites the dust. The theater is on its third owner. The coffee shop changes names like most people change their underwear.
After all the money, time, promotion, obsession, and effort that Rex and his cronies have sunk into this project, the result is always the same. Businesses come, they get a taste of BLVD life, then they either go out of business or leave.
Any guesses on what the next business to close will be? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone? Buhler? Anyone?

So, the 3 person fatality accident on J8 and Challenger a couple of weeks back…what has happened to the people in the other car that caused the accident? Have not seen or heard anything! I sure hope they get the justice they deserve! and, what will it take for people to stop running red lights? I was almost hit yesterday (1-23-18) trying to turn east bound onto J8! Antelope Acres says
A very big thank you to the Lancaster Planning Commission for once again rubber stamping the ‘dream’ of Rex to completely cover Antelope Acres and the West Valley with solar panels, despite the increase in Valley Fever, dust, dirt, visual pollution, and the loss of our rural lifestyle.
The people do not want these solar farms. The people live in Antelope Acres for a rural lifestyle that is being taken away by Rex and his friends.
Thank you for nothing. It is time to boycott Lancaster.
Tim Scott says
Too late, been doing that for years. You have my full support.
Just Saying says
Why not East valley? The land is cheaper, the prevailing wind would blow the sand eastward out to the abyss, and it wouldn’t tie up view property that slopes up to the mountains.Flatter ground would have better solar gain anyway. This West property is being tied up for some other reason down the road.
Johnny Ca$h says
Follow the money. There you will find Rex and his cronies.
Christians Unite says
This Saturday morning, 1/27, there will be a valley-wide event. Churches are invited to unite under the single banner as Christians in a prayer chain along Sierra Highway, from Palmdale Blvd to Lancaster Blvd, organizing at 9:30 at all the major intersections (the two boulevards and all the “full letter” avenues in between.
I wanted to post this here, because I spent many years after a break with a church saying “I don’t need to go to God’s house, God is welcome in mine.” I now have a church home that God steered me to, but I know that many Christians don’t, and are no less the Christian. I wanted them to know that they too are welcome to participate as we join together to pray for our valley, our community, our leaders, and our children.
Just show up at 9:30, we will all be praying together at ten, and close at ten thirty with releasing balloons in support of children who are suffering from, or have been lost to, abuse. Doesn’t take all day, but gets the day off to a good start. Hope to see a lot of people turn out.

Yes, buying a house in California costs a lot. Do YOU want to crash the housing market? I don’t.
Based on the more usual defining measures for poverty California’s rate is right at the national average, give or take.

Oprah for President! I am not a “Trump Hater” and really wanted to give him a chance, but it just seems like he does not have what it takes to be president.. in terms of maturity, ego, professionalism and impulsiveness, he has failed miserably and those are important qualities for a president to have. So… why not Oprah? I think she is as greedy as any other wealthy person who wants to get as rich and possible BUT I think she truly likes helping people too. My only worry about her is that she won’t adhere to the “Road House” philosophy of world politics and threats and not understand that she needs to be nice.. until it’s time..to not be nice … and might be a little too soft.. (most likely) or too hard.. when she exercises diplomacy. Especially in a world in which a bad decision by the US President could result in our annihilation. (phew, thank you spell checker… oh come on.. can anyone here say they would have spelled that right? annihilation??? If so… you bow to no one.. :)

California state Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de Leon, a Los Angeles Democrat who is running for the U.S. Senate, introduced legislation this week that would allow people to make charitable donations to the state instead of paying income taxes. That would allow them to claim a charitable deduction on federal taxes.
“Our hard-earned tax dollars should not be subject to double-taxation, especially not to line the pockets of the Trump family, hedge fund managers and private jet owners,” de Leon said in a statement.
I am curious, are my federal taxes deductible from my state return? I think the answer is no which kinda makes Mr de Leon look like a hypocrite.
Why not just cut Ca state taxes a bit and see what happens? We dont have a tax problem in Ca we have a spending problem.
Its insane when you think about it, most ca residents pay 9.3 state income tax, then any income you spend you pay 9.5 sales tax. So any money made and spent in Ca the state government gets nearly 20%.

Lancaster never ceases to amaze. It’s planning commission rejected a gas station for Avenue L and 20th West but okayed a solar project on Avenue J and 80th East.
The commission stated vagrants and security as concerns for the gas station.
Vagrants and security? The vagrants and crime are all on the BLVD, the mess created by our Lancaster leaders. By putting all the social services, many in buildings owned by politically connected people, together near the library, museum and a poorly thought out downtown, it has been a recipe for disaster.
As for the solar farms, former Rex Parris campaign manager said the city’s goal was to become ‘net zero’. Whatever that is.
All of this stems from the fringe thinking of Mayor Parris. The mayor who claims to hate fossil fuels, seems to enjoy their benefits when flying in his private plane, enjoying the comforts of life in his beach side multi-million dollar home, and revving up his sports car’;s engine.
Parris has not figured out that you cannot save the environment by destroying it. Maybe someday he will have a moment of clarity.
Only in Lancaster. Only in Lancaster, indeed.

Ran across this today –
Two Lancaster city council seats are open for election. Why doesn’t Lancaster have to have the council elected by districts like Palmdale was forced to do? Palmdale was sued to make it have council districts.
Great question. Why doesn’t Lancaster have districts? There is zero representation from East Lancaster. Zero Hispanics. The only African American is a West Lancaster appointee of Parris how makes $100k as a consultant for an east coast energy company (any conflict of interest here?)
Only in Lancaster.
Mr fed up says
There was a Hispanic woman on the council, she resigned, so she can focus on her family, & the mayor appointed African American woman Underwood-jacobs, what does not having a Hispanic on the council have to do with anything and in any city? Thats political racism, so there should a council member of every color then! Nope! Regardless of color, if u qualify to run for office so be it, using race, thats why cali is going down the drain
Tim Scott says
The Lancaster city council only requires one qualification: you will rubber stamp whatever Wrecks comes up with. If you will he and his cronies will fund your campaign and get you elected, if you won’t they will find someone who will. Race has nothing to do with it.
Mr fed up says
Av observer brought up race,Im going with the race factor, the other b.s. is whole other monster, Lancaster has had a black mayor & council members, at “least” theres been a history of diversity
East Lancaster says
In Lancaster, you will only make it on the Council is you are a yes man or woman to Rex. You get on by appointment. He appointed Johnson, Mahli, and Underwood-Jacobs. He owns Crist and Mann.
When an African-American veteran ran and did not sell his soul to Rex, he was attacked with racist hit mailers calling him a gang candidate.
Until the people of Lancaster wake up, it will be more of the same. Raj Mahli basically gave the churches the finger when he did what Rex told him to do and support the pot grows.
Still, not a single person from East Lancaster on the council. No wonder things are so bad.
Sasha says
Lancaster has been going down the drain since 2008 when you know who assumed the throne.
Will says
He brought up RACE because REX brought up RACE when he sued Palmdale! Although REX has appointed council members AFTER he sued Palmdale, so Lancaster would look diverse, the TRUTH is at the time of the lawsuit, Lancaster had only ONE rep of color, Hearns. As had Palmdale. ONE! Loa!
So if You’re fed up Mr fed up, go after Rex! Not those who discuss Rex’s use of the RACE card whenever it pays for Rex!

Partisan politics is destroying America from within. History tells us that when division within is happening, it makes that particular nation ripe for destruction. People blinded by their own set of beliefs that have nothing to do with truth.
Cynic says
I’m a homeowner who itemizes. My tax bill will likely be going up.
Thanks a lot Steve Knight.
Tim Scott says
Steve Knight has never cast a vote that wasn’t handed to him by the GOP leadership. He represents the national Republican party, not his district. Always has.
Alexis says
Democrats doing just like the Republicans, only on the left side of center. Both parties are corrupted.
George says
Both parties are not corrupted……only those elected officials running this country (Rep & Dem). They are mostly in office to make money and have status in their circles.
I remember back when they actually worked together like they should be doing now. Instead, they stonewall each other no matter what the discussion. If you took them outside in a rainstorm, they could not even agree it was raining because it might look bad to their possibilities of getting re-elected by their people, the ones they mostly don’t listen to anyway unless they are big donors to the campaign.
Alexis says
Agree.
Alexis says
I remember to, George. You are right.
Facts4You says
The 3 richest Senators are Sens, Diane Feinstein, Richard Blumenthal and Mark Warner (the richest).
They are all Democrats.
They all voted NO on the GOP tax bill which would have provided a nice benefit for them.
So, be careful painting all Democrats with that broad brush of being corrupt.
Or, you can continue on as you have been doing.
Alexis says
Why did they vote no on the GOP tax bill?
Facts4You says
I guarantee you, Alexis, that any answer to your “Why?” question will not satisfy you.
Tim Scott says
Many wealthy democrats have stated that they do not consider paying their fair share for the benefits they receive from the government to be a burden. Warren Buffet famously said, in support of the alternative minimum tax, “why should I ever pay a lower tax rate than my secretary?” Republican donors know the answer to that question for themselves. It is “because we can buy the GOP into letting us.”
Hey, surprise, repealing the alternative minimum tax was a cornerstone of “simplifying” the tax code.
Alexis says
You’re probably right (Facts4You). I want no part of the leaders of the Democrats or Republicans anymore. Whatever happened to working together for the good of the people of this nation? Now it has become a tribal mind-set, with many asking, which side are you on anyway? Civil discourse has given way to ugly name-calling, to the point of many wishing death to those that don’t agree with a particular line of thinking. I’m sorry if my comments offended you. Best if I keep my quiet.
Alexis says
Oops. Meant to say “best if I keep quiet.”
Alexis says
I also know that I have been one of the worst when it comes to being confrontational. I realize just how futile it is to go back and forth, arguing a matter I have no control over anyway. My dad is buried at Arlington National Cemetery, and he had his opinions until the day he died. What matters is what we do while we are here.

I am a homeowner who itemized my taxes and last year my deductions were $20,000 with the new standard deduction at $24,000 this tax bill works in my favor by $4,000, plus I will see a little more in my paycheck due to the decrease in amount they are taking out for taxes. Yes I am aware the cuts only last 10 years and the Corporate tax rate is permanent but I will take any relief I can get for as long as I can get it.
Alexis says
Wonderful!
Paranoid Android says
The tax bill has now been passed by the House after Senate revisions. Let’s hope the Republicans got it right. I’m not a Trump supporter in the least but I love my country so I’m hopeful on this the Democrats got it wrong.
