Woman killed, husband injured in Lancaster crash

FatalLANCASTER – A 63-year-old Van Nuys woman was killed and her husband severely injured Tuesday afternoon when a collision sent a car into oncoming traffic and caused a head-on crash in a Lancaster intersection, authorities said.

The incident happened around 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 in the intersection of Challenger Way and Kettering Street, according to Sgt. Dave Jennings of the Lancaster Sherriff Station.

A 2003 Cadillac CTS was traveling west on Kettering Street when its driver failed to make a complete stop at Challenger Way and began to cross the intersection without yielding to oncoming traffic, Jennings stated.

A 2001 Ford Focus traveling south on Challenger Way crashed into the right rear of the Cadillac and then careened off the Cadillac into the northbound lanes of Challenger Way, Jennings stated.

The Ford Focus collided head-on with the couple’s 1990 Honda Accord.

The 63-year-old Honda driver was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital where she died of her injuries. Her husband, who was in the front seat, received major injuries but is expected to survive, Jennings stated.

Four other victims were transported to Antelope Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Jennings.

The names of the injured were not immediately released.

The driver of the Cadillac CTS was cited, Jennings stated, and they’ll decide whether or not to file charges after the investigation is complete.

UPDATED @ 4:45 p.m. 11/6/13: The deceased has been identified as 63-year-old Antonia Reisner, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

I do not know any of the persons voicing their feelings here, but,
If you want to do something to give this good lady and her family credit
Please go back to school and learn how to speak and spell correctly.
When I was reading these replies, I could hardly decipher what the message really was.
In honor of this good woman, please educate yourselves.

I lost my best friend, my rock, my mom. I can’t point my finger at anybody but I do hope that if needed, this person be held responsible. My mom was the most cautious person when it came to everything especially driving. My mom did not deserve to die in a tragedy. She lived a peaceful, straight ,healthy life. She deserved to live a long life. She should be here, with us, getting ready for the holidays not a funeral! And guess what, this irrespinsible driver that caused this is probably at home chilling.
She leaves behind a husband, my dad, who is in the ICU, fighting for his life. Children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, this is just jacked up situation. Rest in peace dear mother..rest in peace. My angel…Antonia Reisner 7/14/50~ 11/5/13

The driver of the Cadillac needs to be charged with her death! Enough of these excuses and “oh, but the driver is such a good person…”
They are responsible for the death of another person whether intentional or not due to their actions & we need to start to hold these ppl accountable!

Yea sounds good but lets jus hope an incident like wat happened to the person that caused the accident never happens to one of ur loved ones. First of all u dont even kno if the other peraon was fleeing for his/ her life so until u find out all the details shut ur trap!! May the Lord comfort the family members of the deceased at this time of need losing someone is never easy:( my condolences goes out to the family.

Even if they were “fleeing for their lives” No one has the right to endanger another person.

Mistakes happen, but the driver of the car that didn’t make a complete stop chose to do what they did for whatever reason and should be held accountable.

Like I told the other idiot jb wat if their brakes gave out u hear about all theae faulty cars so until we kno the real reason behind the accident stop judging. I aint even trying to argue wit ignorant people!!

OMG, have a heart will you! That driver, for whatever reason, took a life which left a family behind, grieving. That driver needs to be charged with careless driving.

I do im jus trying to see it frm different point of views it wasn’t a hit and run so u dont kno how the other driver is feelin as well! Careless driving agree but charged wit her death only if it was a hit and run or he did it intentionally

Please read again….. Driver failed to make a complete stop so he or she was driving carelessly! They broke the law!!! which in turn deserves a penalty. Are you having a problem understanding the English language?

“A 2003 Cadillac CTS was traveling west on Kettering Street when its driver failed to make a complete stop at Challenger Way and began to cross the intersection without yielding to oncoming traffic”, Jennings stated.

Now I’m sure this person is suffering and scared for what is going to happen to them, which they should but they need to be punished in some way, especially taking their license from them. If that was me, I know I would never drive again.

mimi, clearly you’re an idiot! If anyone needs to shut their mouth it’s YOU! How about this, let’s hope that someone doesn’t drive carelessly and kills one of your family members, leaving you and many family members and friends behind hurting with unbearable pain! Take your condolences and stick them up your ass. How dare you try to sympathize with the family after making such a stupid and cold hearted statement! Fleeing for his life, does not mean taking another life, nor does it mean putting an elderly man in ICU, nor does it mean putting the VICTIM’s family through heartache and pain. HE KILLED HER, HE’S NOT THE VICTIM HERE, SO STOP MAKING IT SOUND LIKE HE IS!!! Until you stand there and see the pain the family is going through shut your mouth!!!

Idiot who??? everyone already judging the other person wat if brakes went out u hear about all these faulty cars. I’m jus saying don’t judge until u find out the whole picture. so my dear u can suck a fat one for all I care!!! lol

            November 7, 2013 at 5:14 pm

Well mimi, I already stated that you are an idiot and clearly you are since you asked “idiot who.” Here’s the thing you ignorant idiot! YOU’RE ASSUMING that people are judging without knowing. When YOU ASSume, you make an ASS OUT OF YOURSELF! The CTS driver’s breaks were not faulty! He was NOT fleeing for his life! HE RAN THE FKN STOP SIGN, PLAIN AND SIMPLE!!! He did NOT come to a complete stop. No one is judging or assuming without knowing, we’re not you!!! We talked to the police, we talked to witnesses and FINALLY DUMB ASS we talked to someone who WAS IN THE CTS!!! Even he said that the driver RAN THE STOP SIGN. I don’t give a [removed] how the other driver feels! At least the negligent bastard is alive to feel something. Antonia is dead because of him!!! Bill is in ICU in a coma with broken legs, ribs and a fractured spine! I would love to suck a fat one, but am sure you and your mother are sucking on all the fat ones you ratchet bitch!!! You better pray that someone doesn’t run a stop sign and kill someone you love so you know what we’re feeling. By the way you are defending this KILLER you are probably related to him!!! We asked a woman 3 houses from the accident scene if she knows about the accident and she said no. Funny thing is, the man who said that he was in the car and who said THE DRIVER RAN THE STOP SIG happened to go into the same house. Was that lying ass bitch you?
