PALMDALE – Alert citizens helped deputies capture three suspects who abandoned a stolen vehicle and then ran into an east Palmdale neighborhood Monday afternoon. The mother of one of the suspects was also arrested for aiding and abetting, authorities said.

The incident occurred in a residential area near 25th Street East and East Avenue R-10, officials said. Shortly before 12:30 p.m. Monday, a concerned resident contacted the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station and reported three suspects in a new black Audi acting suspicious, according to Sgt. Dave Sauer of the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station.

“It appeared to a citizen who saw them that they were casing the neighborhood for possible burglaries, because they were going up to doors and knocking on the doors to see if anybody was home,” Sauer said.

Patrol units were sent into the neighborhood, and soon after, a deputy spotted the vehicle in question.

“The bad guys tried to get away by maneuvering their car quickly through some turns, losing our deputy,” Sauer said. “When we found the car, the suspects had already gotten out of the car and fled.”

The three suspects abandoned their vehicle near Sparrow Drive and Swallow Lane and then took off on foot, jumping fences and running through people’s backyards.

“A couple of other concerned citizens saw the directions that they went, so we contained a fairly large area and did a yard-to-yard search,” Sauer said.

After about an hour, deputies caught up to all three suspects in the area of Yorkshire Drive and Dartmouth Lane. Deputies also arrested the mother of one of the suspects for aiding and abetting a felony suspect. Sauer said the woman was on a cell phone with her son relaying deputies’ movements and “trying to give him a way to escape.”

“So all three of the bad guys are in custody, the car is recovered, along with other stolen property,” Sauer said, adding that the new black Audi was stolen during a burglary in the Los Angeles area. He said LAPD detectives would recover the vehicle and the stolen property, which was most likely taken during the Los Angeles burglary.

The suspects’ names were not immediately available Monday.

The mind-set of a thief is that they feel entitled to steal what you have, but you better not steal from them, what they have stolen.

Great job LASD and the citizens for stopping 4 Adam Henry’s! Too bad they will be back on the streets in 3 weeks. They can only prove a stolen car and possession of stolen property. In California, that’s considered a PROPERTY CRIME and eligible for AB 109. They will be locked up until their hearing and given PROBATION bcuz its a property crime only.

Folks, remember the nezt time you see a 25 billion dollar BOND Measure on the ballot, vote yes and suck up the few extra dollars in taxes. Otherwise, we will continue to let these A.H.’s make more victims without doing any time.

Thank you people of Palmdale for helping the police catch these low life’s. Way to go LASD. More garbage off the streets.

As for the mother, you deserve jail too. How is your son going to learn to be good citizen if his mother encourages him.? Do you realize you may have lost him today?

Maybe these fit the profile of all the home burglaries on the east side over the past several weeks? Way to go to all the citizens who actually got involved and made this capture happen! This is the way we all need to be up here watching out for our neighbors like days of old, You see something report it! Again great to see 3 or 4 more outstanding citizens taken off the streets, hopefully they find evidence leading them to many more crimes to make prison time longer! as for the Mom, well she was probably raise the same way as these hoodlums, One of these days these guys are going to enter the wrong house (perhaps mine) which would be the last thing they ever do in this world! Simple enter my home un invited and all you will get is 2 to the chest and 1 to the head! PERIOD end of story and no I will not ask what you are doing, you will not leave my house the same means you entered! Again Kudo’s to all who helped nab the 3 STOOGES! And Elmer Fudd!

Try and steal my car (or anything else that’s mine for that matter)….it’ll be the last thing you ever do.

This is the kind of mom I am referring to when I mention the enablers and moms in denial. I hope there is no defense for these accused car thieves and the mom. Makes me wonder why any mom would support this kind of behavior in their child. Are these young men juveniles? Were they skipping school?
Thanks you LASD for showing up and making the effort to catch these people, even tough the callers didn’t know a real crime had been committed. They suspected the car was stolen and they suspected the young men were not looking for a friends house. Running through a neighborhood isn’t a crime and leaving your car parked in a neighborhood is not a crime. Thank you again LASD for doing your job. Responding to a citizens concern that something was wrong with the picture!

Thieves don’t steal because they are poor. They steal because they want what is not theirs.

To the AV Editor(s): Could you, please show the faces of all theses DUMB Criminals instead of the Sheriff Patrol’s vehicles…By the way… Great JOB to the LASD for the quick response, and to the Good Neighbors who didn’t think twice to make the phone call to the authorities…
This is the way all of us should be doing anytime we see something suspicious in our Neighborhoods. THUMBS UP!!!!

      so she didn’t get arrested?

        September 10, 2013 at 7:10 am

She was probably Cited and release no room to put her in the jails they are already overcrowded. thats why I think we should take a large rock quarry and lock them in there living in tents and work all day making baby rocks out of big rocks just like the old days. But that will never happen due to all the bleeding heart losers “Oh thats cruel” they use a weapon or put lives in danger they are busting rocks for their entire sentence not 1/4

How about working on the high speed railroad for their sentence. It will perform a needed task, install work ethic, self worth and provide them a path to being an asset instead of a burden on society.

          • September 10, 2013 at 9:04 am

No she didn’t get arrested, the cops got her for like 30 minutes then they let her go in her car, me and my husband saw everything the cops checked her phone for a while then later them Let her go. I’m taking about the lady with the red and black shirt, cuz there was another lady with gray shirt maybe it was she the one that got arrested but the one on the picture left in her car focus ford. But it don’t matter now the police did a great job, they didn’t left my house til they found them :-)

We can not do that. All those jobs have been promised to union cronies for support in the project.

I also question if high speed rail is really needed.
