Man shot to death in Lancaster

LANCASTER – A young man was shot and killed in Lancaster early Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened between 1 and 1:30 p.m., next to Coaches Sports Bar in the 43300 of Gadsden Avenue (near K-4).

Witnesses at the scene said the incident started out as a fight, and then escalated into a shooting. They said the victim was shot at least six times.

The witnesses said both people involved in the altercation appeared to be teenagers, but this information has not been confirmed by sheriff’s officials.

The victim was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide detectives are en route to the location, and officials are not releasing any details on the shooting until a preliminary investigation is completed.

We will have details on this story as soon more information becomes available.

first off every death is sad whether it may be through violence,or a sudden lost of breath.sometimes peoples outlooks on certain situations comes from them trying to think too much into it,and their thoughts falls short of their reasonings.it doesnt have to do with being a blood or a crip because at the end of the day,he was someones child, brother, father, uncle, relative, friend and anything else he seen fit to be.but he had to die to get to where he needed to be.and once people really can understand and cope with losing a love one,it would be more clearer on where he needed to be.i went to one of my homies funerals and i got the holy ghost from the words that came into the church on living and dying.the preacher said this:inorder for a person to get a job he has to leave early to get to the interview so he would be on time.the lord allowed brandon to die like this because its a testimony.i didnt know this dude but its more of a connection, because he was black and he died young and that hurts.but to his mom i know its going to be struggle because every parent love their babies, but also understand that the lord died before all of us.and we still knock on his door seeking for a change.but jesus has his arms draped around your family.so yall just continue to pray okay..

I just read this and was impressed with the fact that you said some things that allot of other people on here want to say but do not say it because that person knows they will be bashed for it and just cause more issues…. I will say this…I have first hand knowledge of losing loved ones, I was present when my close cousins Ol Man killed her…I have also had other relatives murdered and you bet your A S S I wanted to get arrested just so I could go to the county lock up and slice and dice… BUT I WOULD DO NO RIGHT that way. I am old school and eye for an eye is always on my mind (Guido Style) but I know my actions will affect many many others….

what I am trying to get across here… he was a HUMAN BEING…no B.S. is justified by Bullets, knives, bombs, Planes, or other weapons. This is very tragic and the 3 people I feel the most saddness for…. Brandons Mother, & Father….And His Child or Children (heard the GF was expecting)…. I do not wish that pain on anyone.
You are not REQUIRED to forgive….It may give you closure BUT it will not bring Brandon back or make the pain go away.
Celebrate the memories EVERYDAY! Wake up EVERYDAY and do something to make him PROUD and make sure his SON and CHILDREN are #1 before everything…….

My appologies for going on & on but someone has to make you think…..

      F I S H O U T ……. :-)

    Like or Dislike: 2 0

Look, they knew when they planned all these apartment buildings and homes there would never be enough tenants from the area. The fix was in a long time ago aided and abetted by the usual suspects. Government moneys were used and this is the payback.Did anyone say to themselves during the building boom “what the hell, there is not a patch of dirt they are not building on, who is going to live there? ” Well now you know what the plan was.”

I have been asking that question over and over for the past (almost 10 years). Most recently, TinaMarie said the builders are still building due to the growth in aerospace field. (?)
I drive around and look at houses that were $400K+ 6 yrs ago, and now they are only $200K if they are still for sale. Some have been rented. They have sheets over the windows, broken garage doors, wrecked cars with oil dripped on the driveway. I saw one house that was beautiful when it was built, it had children on the roof and all the screens were missing from the windows. Hummer in the driveway.
Investors bought as many of the houses and apts they could get their hands on in the hood. They moved the ghetto out here under false pretense. They are rebuilding and remodeling all those old homes they bought for next to nothing and selling them for bank.

CC also stands for Carson Crip. Look it up Carson california.they got video of the shooter and the guys in jail aint on it shooting they getting beat up.

Wow, how did I miss this complete run down of what happened before? (I hope you at least told this info to the cops before posting here.) Why would the Bloods across the street start shooting for no reason?

And if I understand what you wrote correctly, then you’re saying a baby was also involved in this mess while the shooting was going on???

It really doesn’t matter what gang he is from. Carson, Compton, Inglewood, Watts, etc. Gang is gang. It is sad, heartbreaking actually for some, when a young person is killed in such a violent way.
Why gang people would chose to not turn the murderers over to the cops is interesting to say the least. A piece if $hit killer stinks up everyone’s house. For some reason gang people don’t see it that way, instead it makes them bigger than life. Someone to fear? respect? I don’t get it.

I used to live in those appartments by coaches when I first came out here. I didnt know how bad it was, after my lease was up I got up otta there! People were allways trying to break into my appartment, someone broke into my car, etc. I knew the cheap rent was too good to be true. I feel sorry for anyone who has to live in that area.

    • Dan

We don’t need stiffer gun laws out here. We just need to start enforcing the one we have…

      • Dan
        November 30, 2012 at 2:57 pm

Oh yeah, and , hypothetically, if we had “stiffer” gun laws, it would only effect those who follow the law. This is the thing that all of the anti-gun people need to get through their hard skulls. It is the criminal that doesn’t follow the laws, so how would creating more slow the criminal down if he’s not paying them any attention anyways. In regards to violence, people have been committing violent crimes a lot longer without guns than with them.

I am not sure I even understood what in the hell you said. I will reply to the part of the sentence that almost makes sense. Law Enforcement Officers ultimately only report their findings in an arrest to the court where a judge is responsible for actually enforcing the law. I feel that where the judges can, they should be a bit tougher on the sentences issued when it is possible. Hell, I still think crimes like murder should still result in public execution by hanging. Would save a ton of money in regards to our over crowded prison system.

I fell sorry for the families that have to put up with this bull[removed]. As an black male, It sucks to read how other races stereotype the whole race out of stupidity of some with rich melatonin skin. I don’t know what “y’all people” call it, but I call it racism. But when blacks call out your HISTORY, it’s a problem. Behavior is learned,Habits are thought. And the last time I check whites been robbing, cheating, stealing , killing and RAPING since they came out of that ugly cave.

    • Bob
      November 30, 2012 at 2:36 pm

So you are a closet racist Real-Talk, you pretend not to be racist, but when you *THINK* you have been slighted in the smallest way you come out swinging with every racist thought your small mind could come up with.

If you understood history you would actually know that humans of all races have mistreated humans of all races (including their own.) Africans sold their fellow Africans to the white man who only went to ports to trade (not too many went far into Africa till much later.) Islanders in Papau New Guinea ate other Islanders and stranded seamen.

Even white people have been slaves (Irish and other indentured servants,) as well as for millenniums before that by Moores, Romans, Greeks, Persians, etc.

So you try to use history to push your own racist agenda, but can’t see the full spectrum of all mankind as equals to horrors.

      • Real-Talk
        November 30, 2012 at 5:56 pm

I’m a very educated young men, I’m pretty knowledgeable about history.Facts are facts, didn’t mean to offend anyone but that’s how It went down.

I’m just tired of ignorance period , at the end of the day were all humans. Bad people comes in all shapes, color, and sizes.

        • Bob
          December 1, 2012 at 12:02 am

Thank you for showing your ignorance, I appreciate that. I would love to know what was the highest end of your education?

If you followed science you’d realize we all share ancestors and traits, across all groups. So you saying your line of:

” And the last time I check whites been robbing, cheating, stealing , killing and RAPING since they came out of that ugly cave”

          is the same as saying:

“And the last time I check blacks been robbing, cheating, stealing , killing and RAPING since they came out of that ugly…”

If the one about whites is true, so is the one above. So if the one regarding blacks is untrue, so is the one regarding whites.

Yeah, those stolen and illegal imported guns are the real issue. We need more honest citizens carrying arms.

Not even 1% of the population of California is legally carrying firearms on themselves. It is like having 1 sheep dog for 10000 sheep. Not even the hardest working sheepdog could keep an eye on a flock of 10000 at all times.

So to counter that, we need more sheep dogs (either police, or armed and trained civilians.) I personally find it more fiscally responsible to have more armed civilians than armed police who have to be called.

        • Dan
          November 30, 2012 at 3:06 pm

I second that motion Bob! We need to put more firearms back into the hands of responsible citizens. An armed society is a polite society. Laws creating “firearm free” areas are also creating victim rich environments for those who do not abide by the law to prey upon.

Who gets to decide which people are decent? Income level, church affiliation, number of children in college, most freckles?

The state of california is in violation of the 2nd ammendment of the constitution of the united states of america. We law abiding citizens cant even defend ourselfs legally because we cant even legally carry guns out here in california. Just think what if this guy had the oportunity to defend himself with a gun. The cops cant protect you. They need to do away with that motto, serve and protect, cops cant protect people or property out here. Here is a perfect example.

Don’t think this street has gotten any worse than it wa 10-15 years. Back when one of those apartments called the Monte Verdes were. Scary times becuz crimes were being committed day and night out in the open. People seem to forget we moved up out the “Ghetto.” And it is not cute to be “Ghetto.” For some of us who are older the ghetto was a way of life our only means of survival. Never was it a fashion statements. Or a lifestyle by choice.

And to be fair lets not forget the cute little highschool cheerleader who put a hit on her boyfriend over there at Wood Creek Rather than race it is more of a generation of people who feel it’s all about them, that they are entitled beyond belief and while parenting is a major factor we as a society have failed our youth.Rules, boundaries and limitation have flown the coop.Glorifying criminal behavior in video games, rap.reality Tv and don’t call on God and think everything will be cool.We were given brains and ability if we could just use them.

Amen! The level of ignorance in this town unbelievable. You just have to shake your head and move on, because its hurting them way more than it could ever hurt any of us.

Hopefully these people can get justice for this slain young man. I read in the paper it was execution style. If so many people saw it and that area has cameras too, the sheriff should be able to get these killers off the street soon. Praying for the family of this young man.

    Hey,

This was off of Gadsden Avenue. That area and especially those apartments have been sketchy since I moved here 25 years ago. If something like this is going to happen, it will go down there. The problem is some of the low-income tenants they have.

I beg to differ, location and affluence have everything to do with it. Compare statistics of violent crimes happening in the streets of Compton Vs. that of the streets of Beverly Hills, I bet you see a bit of difference in numbers. That numbers game is obvious here in the AV as well. When is the last time you heard of a shooting, stabbing, break in or otherwise out in the Gotte Estates? These types of things are more prevalent in lower income areas, just a statistical fact.

The East Side isn’t bad. This was basically in the middle of town. The East Side and West Side both have their own troubles. It just depends on where you are. I live on the East Side near East Side High School and the worst that happens is graffiti and loud parties. It’s mostly Farms out here anyways. I have family on the West Side and they never lock their doors, cause they feel that safe. It just depends on the area. Every place has it’s bad seeds.

School? The schools here have so many wierd schedules. How can anyone keep track?
Independent studies for the kids and parents to lazy for regular school. Obviously not working a job.
Just hanging around making more babies with teenage moms and smoking weed when they aren’t busy robbing houses, sticking up gas stations and convience stores or writing stolen checks at Target for gift cards.
I don’t like the idea that anyone is killed through street violence, but when you choose to be out in the streets living the life, that’s the choice you make. You all know it, the $hit catches up to you sooner or later.

That’s why I stay on the WEST side of town. The East side has really gone to crap. So sad that someone so young had to get caught up in all that. Now look, another victim of stupid violence. And as someone said earlier in the post, why weren’t they in school, where were “Brandon’s” parents? Why weren’t they aware of his where abouts… Who’s REALLY to blame here. The Mayor needs to CRACK down on the East side of town, and keep on his SECTION 8 crack down, they’re destroying our city! Makes me sick, I work so hard for them to live better than me! Then their hoodlum offspring go out and create this kind of crap in the community MY KIDS are growing up in! I don’t even need to know all the details to read between the lines, these kids, or at least one if not both involved came from a family of poverty, probably section 8, welfare, the works; and are out causing this kind of havoc. My deepest condolences to the mother of the victim. This kind of senseless violence is never acceptable. We don’t live in a third world country, but sometimes is sure as heck seems like it! GET IT TOGETHER PEOPLE!!!!!!

    • Letlow
      November 29, 2012 at 8:36 pm

You are the one who needs to get it together!!!

First of all, the crime didn’t even happen on the east side. That’s stereotype number one from you. Second of all, you don’t even know the names of the victim or the suspect, so how, pray tell, have you already concluded that they are on Sec 8? That’s stereotype number two from you.

And the third and final stereotype, since when does being on a government assistance program make you a criminal?

Three stereotypes and you’re out! You need some serious introspection buddy.

You are right about one thing: senseless violence is never acceptable. But neither is your bigoted thinking.

On another note, my condolences to the family of the victim. Another young life lost, and right before the holidays too.

I’m not apologizing for a damn thing — least of all, the criminal element.

Since when is east side Lancaster and Section 8 the “criminal element”???

I’m rightfully taking offense because close minded people like “Shocked” and you apparently believe those two entities to be the criminal element.

I am sick to death of bigots!! And so is the rest of this country! That’s why we made our voices clear on Nov. 6. Too bad the AV is slow to catch on!!

      • Dan
        November 30, 2012 at 3:24 pm

Letlow, you were correct on point 1, it was west lancaster. On your second point, the name of the victim I believe has been mentioned here in the comments and not to sound crass or anything but it doesn’t sound Irish. On your third point, since the apartments on Gadsen are low income it’s not too hard to make the jump to someone living there being on section 8. Just Saying….

        • William
          December 1, 2012 at 1:06 am

So, Dan,the Section 8 stereotype is BOTH

-people in low rent apartments in not so nice areas

          AND, if you please,

-people who live in big, expensive homes with new cars in the driveway.

Yes. I wonder if there are more ‘the’ stereotype in Section 8 residences.

          -old people

          -disabled people

          -criminals

Wow. There are lots of stereotypes. But, I thought a stereotype was pretty much one size fits all, if you know what I mean.

And, what’s this “Just saying….” mean on your planet? Because what you say sometimes doesn’t make sense.

          Just saying….

          • Dan
            December 3, 2012 at 10:51 am

            @ William

I have no idea how you correlate my comment to anything you just said. The only thing in my comment that could even be close to construed as stereotypical would have been the “irish” comment. In regards to section 8, the comment was that it was easy to connect “low-income” housing with section 8. I didn’t mention or interject any more into that comment than just that simple idea. And on “my planet”, the expression “just saying” means: to inject a statement or opinion that is a blatantly honest statement or opinion that’s likely to insult at least one person with it’s cold, bitter truth. Sorry you were that “one person”.

And William, I am well aware of the types of people who qualify for Section 8 as well as aware of the types of people who abuse it. I was not making a connection to all the folks living in retirement communities and being on Section 8 having high crime rates now was I? Nor was I making a connection that the housing over on Gadsen is known for it’s high saturation of disabled or elderly folks. The connection I was alluding to was that the area was known to be a high crime area, low income, and being low income and a high crime area would propagate the likelihood that there would be a increased number of section 8 abusers in that area.

        • William
          December 3, 2012 at 2:04 pm

          OK. Here goes. You wrote-

” not too hard to make the jump to someone living there being on section 8. Just Saying….”

How would you know? By looking at them? Because they live on Gadsen? They might be but you are stereotyping them.

How ’bout making the jump that since the apartments on Gadsen are ‘low income’ that the people who live there have ‘low incomes’? Yeah, that’s it.

But, you automatically make ‘the jump’, which is called, for lack of a better term, ‘stereotyping’. Stereotyping doesn’t mean that all members of a population are the same but your jump to assume that someone living there being on Section 8 is a stereotype. Not necessarily, just low income and even that might not always be true.

And, I gave the other example of familiar stereotypes regarding S-8 to show that THE stereotype of S-8 recipients is quite varied which undermines the very use of the word even while people actually do ‘stereotype’. It would be like going into Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream stores and ‘stereotyping’ the 31 flavors by ‘making the jump that they are strawberry’ because they live in an ice cream store.

Sorry, if that discussion was over your head.

          Just saying.

          • Dan
            December 3, 2012 at 5:11 pm

Ok William, if you are going to quote me and make the argument of a simpleton at least include enough of it to complete it’s context. Let me help you with this.

“since the apartments on Gadsen are low income it’s not too hard to make the jump to someone living there being on section 8″

Nothing in this (complete) quote has anything to do with how someone looks or any of the other assertions you made.

I’ll help you here with your reading and comprehension since it appears not to be your strong suit.

In my comment, what do I say the apartments on Gadsen are? The correct answer is: “low income”

What is the Section 8 Program for? The correct answer is: to assist those who have a “low income”

Also, “make the jump” as used in the context it was used would be synonymous with “making the conclusion” not expressing a stereotype.

In conclusion and in terms you might understand. It is likely people who have “low incomes” are likely to live in places that cater to people with “low incomes” and accept program assistance like Section 8 that is meant to help people with “low incomes”

And to use your analogy: I am saying you you “make the jump” that a ice cream shop has ice cream scoops because they are used to scoop ice cream.

          • William
            December 3, 2012 at 5:39 pm

OK, Dan, you win. The low income apartments on Gadsen, we can conclude, have Section 8 tenants……………unless they don’t.

Now, do you get the picture. That is the essence of ‘jumping to conclusions’ and that can be called ‘stereotyping’.

Now, if you went to each apartment and asked each tenant their status with regard to Section 8 and a 6 of them said ‘Yes’, they are using Section 8 vouchers, then, and this is important, …………………………………..

YOU CAN CONCLUDE THAT THERE ARE SECTION 8 TENANTS IN THE GADSEN APARTMENTS.

            Conclude is your word.

            con·clude

            [ kən kld ]

1.come to conclusion about something: to form an opinion or make a logical judgment about something after considering everything known about it
2.decide something: to reach a decision about something
3.settle something: to make a formal agreement complete and fixed, especially after detailed or prolonged discussions or arrangements

            “…considering everything know about it”.

            OK. Your turn.

Everybody I know of living in those apartments is either Sec 8, or have been disqualified from Sect 8 benefits due to fraud. Or, they are receiving SSD for some unknown reason like a childhood assessment of ADD. For every person on the lease, there are at least 2 or 3 other people in the apartment on a regular basis, not on the lease.

” Well now you know what the plan was.

Sadly, it has been little Compton for years now. As a retired Veteran, I hope City officials do all they can to clean up the AV. Section 8 friendly and a prison doesn’t help much.

Ok you are probably the most ignorant person on this page! How dare you say derogatory remarks about people of low income and how they are destroying the City! Programs like section 8 and welfare are out there to help families in need. I realize that the system gets abused by many but to put everyone into that category is a bunch of crap. I used to be on welfare, I had a child at 16.. She is 19 now, she graduated high school with honors, got accepted to 3 State Universities as well as holds a job and has her own place. I work hard, am not on welfare and you know what I probably make more money than you. So be careful what you say because you do not have a clue of what you are talking about.

Glad you could too. Thank you, my family and I really appreciated it. Everyone who works pays into these programs including myself for the last 17 years. This is not a problem with people of low income… Imagine tomorrow your company laid you off and you had to live off of EDD, which then you couldn’t make ends meet. Would that make you a person of low income? It is not whether you have money or not, it is the way you choose to live your life, look at all of the celeberties that have millions and choose to do stupid things. It is not about what color you are, bad seeds come in every color. If you are determined to be a productive member of society, no matter what color you are or what obstacles are in your way, you will find a way to achieve your goals. I recently relocated here and have to admit that it was quite a culture shock, however I have seen many productive black and Hispanic individuals in the community.

I am sure we owe you something right! all I can say is TYPICAL! Thats the way the Valley is now…You are one of the few atta girls that have come out of hard times…been there done that I lived off G R ( General Relief) back a few years ago and yes I stretched everybit of that $262 a month and $300 in food stamps! BUT I surely would not be bragging to my high horse like some TYPICAL peeps have done…
No One even knows for sure what went down here EXCEPT to young man who I saw inside the ambulence on the way to AVH and the shameful person who decided to change his life 4EVER and those of the victims family…. Fish OUT!

C, People like you are the exception to the rule these days and you have to admit that. You used the system for what it was intended for and that was to get back on your feet and become a productive member of society. Good Job! It’s the other 10 million degenerates out there abusing the system for the sake of doing it. You devalue your achievements by clumping yourself with these others. Be Proud that you are not like them and have the spoils that are deserved of one who works for them.

You are a sad person to stereo-type anyone for being on Section 8. Did you know you can not be offered a Section 8 voucher if you EVER been convicted of a felony. To discriminate against anyone is a broken vow to the lord. So that being said, “GOOD LUCK” to you and yours on the chance on going to heaven. ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE YOU. Pray for the unfortunate ones. You can fall off your high horse at any second, SEE YOU ON THE WAY DOWN. #SELFHATE

      • December 1, 2012 at 12:32 am

        Tawanda,
I don’t think it’s necessarily the people who were APPROVED for the Section 8 voucher. It’s the group of people who come to VISIT them and never leave. They always have their bags packed so it looks like they are visiting, and they sleep in the corner sometimes. But, they are LIVING there.
I think you probably know, and won’t ever admit that there ARE alot of felons VISITING your Section 8 friends.
As far as God and heaven and all that stuff you just barfed up..you don’t know who is going to heaven and who isn’t. Lots of gang people and gang affiliated people tend to quote the bible and praise the Lord for being so great when they themselves are crooks living daily with evil intent.
They too, only need to ask for forgiveness or their sins.

Let’s see how many of the 20-30 friends standing around when the fight broke out actually step forward to identify the shooter(s).
These kids were in their 20′s and older, why were none of them at work or at school? Everyone off for the day? The same group of young people hang out down that street everyday and every night. It was not a matter of “if”, it was a matter of “when”. I am sorry for Brandon’s mom and dad.

Very sad and not surprising for that area, a neighborhood that used to be nice back in the day.Moved there in 88 and lived at Woodcreek Apts on the corner. When I left 5 years later, those apartments had been built at the end of Gadsden which were rented to ” income restricted ” and major problems began. Now basically a ghetto, very sad.Maybe the Mayor will clean it up now that his offices are down the street.

I meant to say I caught this while listening to my new scanner. Wow! I heard they detained at least one suspect and at least two others for questioning.

Wow! Shot 6 times? Dang can’t just one bullet kill you? It’s obvious who ever shot that young man has no remorse for human lives! Just makes “IT” a coward,an animal!!!!! Then again look at were we at!!!!! Yuppppp!!! But then again we have no details of why were they fighting at first! Was it gang related? A drug deal gone bad? I feel sorry for the parents of that dead young man!!
