LANCASTER – An 18-year-old motorcycle rider sustained serious injury Tuesday (Nov. 13) after hitting the rear left side of a stationary Antelope Valley Transit Authority bus, AVTA officials said.
The collision happened around 1:30 p.m. on Rancho Vista Boulevard, near 15th Street West in Palmdale.
The AVTA bus was pulled over to the curb and passengers were disembarking when the collision occurred. Twelve passengers were on board the bus, but none sustained injury, AVTA officials said.
Sheriff’s deputies report the motorcycle rider, whose name was not released, sustained serious injury to his leg. He was taken by ambulance to Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment
“Our prayers go out to the family of this young man who was seriously injured today,” said AVTA Executive Director Julie Austin in a statement. “We are very sad that such a traumatic incident has befallen this young person and we hope for a quick recovery.”
The collision remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department.
