First Business completed through City’s Property Improvement Program

LANCASTER – A new juice bar on The BLVD is the first of 10 businesses in downtown Lancaster to complete improvements made through the City’s Commercial Property Improvement Program (CPIP).

Juice Box is owned by Chris and Candice Beatty (who also own the AV Dance Studio ’81 next door).

“This location on The BLVD is ideal,” said Chris Beatty. “We’ve wanted to open the Juice Box here ever since moving the studio to The BLVD, but we thought it would take a while before we were able to do so. The Commercial Property Improvement Program jump-started the whole process.”

The Commercial Property Improvement Program was enacted by the City Council in March 2011 to provide business owners with an opportunity to enhance their facades through top-quality design and architecture.  It also serves as an incentive program to entice new businesses to locate downtown while stimulating private investment through a matching contribution requirement.

“This program was designed to offer aspiring entrepreneurs a helping hand in launching their new businesses, while also enhancing the newly revitalized BLVD by attracting the perfect mix of shopping, dining and retail,” said Mayor R. Rex Parris. “Juice Box is the epitome of the type of new business we like to see on the BLVD. I am proud that the City has been able to partner with them to make this dream a reality.”

The Juice Box offers signature fruit smoothies, as well as crepes, and shakes with names such as “Cherry Manilow” and “Peanut Butter Jelly Time.”

“Juice Box offers something for everyone, from fresh and fruity smoothies to delightful treats like our popular Nutella crepes,” said Candice Beatty. “People can order one of our healthy options, indulge in a sweet snack, or enjoy a light meal.”

“I was honored to be one of Candice’s dance instructors when she was little,” said Councilwoman Sandra Johnson. “This is a proud moment for me to see her giving back to her community as an entrepreneur and an instructor herself. It shows what having a passion for your community can do. I wish her and her husband the best success.”

Juice Box is located at 526 W. Lancaster BLVD with store hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.
